Just got MPC 60

I just got a MPC 60 and it's being shipped within the next couple of days. i've been doin a little research about upgrades and i just wnted to get some imput on it. The unit i got is stock so i was thinking of getting the o.s upgrade and the marion scsi, but is it worth it? if i do purchase the scsi upgrade should i use a zipp drive or scsi hard drive, what scsi hard drive should i get? I have a 4000, but recently purchased the 60 and a s950 so i'm very excited and just wondering whats the best way to use them together. would it be ebtter to sample in the s950 then use the 60 to seqeunce threw midi? please any insight would be much appreciated- THANKS

I dont own a 60 but I think I might have some input. If you get the scsi upgrade it would probably ideal to use a CF card reader (only a select few models work to my understanding.) because of the reliability factor. Also, from what i understand the s950 has more editing features than the 60 by itself.

The scsi upgrade is worth it but tough 2 justify because of the price. The double density disks r also a bit of a pain 2. The card readers r a rare find but obviously the best choice. The 3.1 OS is worth every cent as it is the mpc 3000 OS imported 2 the 60. I don't have the 950 but most cats on this board use it as a sound module and trigger samples with the 60. The 60 works magic on drums and samples. -uno-

bear in mind you need the 3.10 to use the SCSI interface...

at the bear minimum get 3.10 OS and memory expansion. the SCSI upgrade is overrated. i get along just fine with floppies. with my TEAC drive i am able to use HDs and use the tape trick to make them DDs for formatting/saving pgm's with MPC EDITOR on a PC.

as for the s950/60 combo, what you said sounds about right. you may want to sample drums into the 60. they'll both sound dope.
