Continuous Sample Track

Is there a way of triggering recording of a continuous sample to start eaxctly when you press play on the sequencer? eg For recording exactly 4 bars of a synth line without needing to crop it in sample editing..

I was trying to bounce in some pads the other day , but I couldnt get them in time after id recorded them because I couldnt tell where the start of bar one was on the waveform..

This seems like quite a straightforward request, but its quite hard to do!

I have read the manual but either im retarded (possibility) or you cant do this..

But is there a way of getting direct recording to start at the same time as the sequencer ie. when you start the sequence your direct recording also starts from bar 1.1.00 ?

I wanna record a loop of a synthline starting at 1.1.00 that ends at 5.1.00
so I can easily sequence the wav.. With direct recording I have to start the sequencer then press record start & I end up with a wav with a big gap at the front, that starts at a random position eg 2.3.47...

Does that make sense?

Yes it does. Direct Recording in my opinion is one of the functions which could use a lot of improvement still. Hell, they could make this machine into an Electrix Repeater or an Electro Harmonix 2880!

But what might help is if you use a footswitch set to Button F6 to trigger direct recording in time.

It's easier though if your recording does not start exactly at 001.01.00, so you don't have to press record and start playing at the same time.

.. that would be a neat OS addition though the ability to set the direct recording start to sync with the sequencer start..
