3 quick sampling questions.

I have 3 quick questions

1. When I have a sample and I assign it to a pad, is there anyway to change the speed of the sample? I am not trying to change the pitch just the tempo/speed of the sample assigned to one pad.

2. is there a way to assign one sample to all 16 pads just at different notes?

3. is there a way to chop a sample and evenly distribute it amongst all 16 pads?

1. Yes it`s called time stretch in sample edit under trim and then assign the sample to one pad.

2. Yes it`s called a keygroup program in a chromatic scale. First go to program list page make a new keygroup program and assign a sample over a keyspan of notes.

3. Yes it`s called region slice and region divide in sample edit pages. Go to the last edit page you will see it select no for sequence and yes for program it will make a drum program with the samples layed out over the pads.


4. Please read up on pagees 76-77 for time stretch, pages 81-83 for keyprograms, and pages 73-76 for dividing the samples onto pads.

Got dang Blue Haze. that was a perfect response. thanks alot for helping out. I would read the manual but this manual has the words I dont know;. like I could of read those pages and stil not know how to do what I just asked because I didnt know about region slice/keygroup/ect...

another question. how do u name a track? I made a track on the korg m1 sequenced with the mpc but when i turn off the equipment the m1 wont save which sound it was on so on the MPC I want to name the track that the korg is on the name of the sound that it was playing.

Looks like you got to read your Korg manual. You are sequencing midi tracks on the MPC right? The actually sounds and programs are on the m1 that part you have to check the Korg instructions


. On the MPC you should have Out 1 set to Out A then to Channel 1-16 then go to device highlight device name press window. Next type in the name and press store button.

and blue haze a little troubleshooting but for some reason after like track 13 I cant select the sound I want to use on the mpc

Im on like track 14 and I want to add another track but I want to use a program from the mpc but where I would select the program I want to use its blank and wont let me change it

one last final thing(hopefully) when I updated my OS on the MPC the mixer only shows 10 tracks(no matter how many I have recorded on). How do I change the voume for 11+ if its not on the mixer?

If you are using the mpc internal sampler then you should select part and assign a program. Check the multi and assign a internal program to a part number, then go to main page to track, part, next assign the part number 1-128 and you should be set.

Remember that the mixer is only for the programs, not the tracks!!!!! If you want to adjust the volume of a particular track use the velocity adjustment on that track on the main page in the track section under duration which you can set in real time.
