this is based off of a combination of my opinion and from what akai told me.

the future looks bad for the 1000 if akai decides not to do anything. somehow, i'm getting the feeling that the 1000 will be discontinued. but that may depend if sales plummet due to bad publicity. bad news travels fast, unfortunately.

ps- no offense to you, sparq. i really appreciate all that you've done to help us with the pad issue. but this really leaves a bad taste in my mouth, as far as akai is concerned. i really hope they consider the fact that they will lose more money in the future if they don't spend the money to resolve the issue at the present time. many mpc1000 and 4000 users have stated that they would never buy from akai again... and as i mentioned, bad news travels fast. akai really needs to reconsider this.... especially since the 1000 is the biggest selling model they made.

IF IT COSTS A CORPORATION AKAI/NUMARK/WHOEVER MORE MONEY TO RECALL A PRODUCT OR SUPPORT THEIR LOYAL CUSTOMERS WITH A NEW PAD KIT SIMILAR TO THE OTHER MPC MODELS DUE TO THEIR LIES AND FAULTY DESIGN....

SO WHAT!!!

at this point akai can give everyone their hard earned money back and go bankrupt for all i care.

When I bought the mpc 1000 2 years ago i knew that it didnt have the same note capacity or sample editing features as the mpc 2000. but i didnt know that the pads were not the same/lower quality/retarded design.

In fact:

they ADVERTISED that it had the same feel as the other models... This pad issue is not a fluke! the fact that this issue is prevelent all over the 1k forum is sickening!

dude this is a $700 - $1000 machine we are talking about here!

the main function of an mpc is to preform on the pads!

Without the pads what can an mpc do?

If this isnt class action worthy i dont know what is!

pisses me off
TOP SELLING MPC ever, and they a dirty trick to get themselves out of bankruptcy.

but then again, who the hell cares if akai discontinues the mpc1000? it wouldn't make any difference as compared to what's going on right now

weve got better code support anyway, and fixing this thing is really easy, no more difficult than computer/minor electronics repair. fk em, this thing will last forever without akai

I don't own a MPC1000 but the pad issues were one thing that made me consider another MPC instead of the 1k. Especially since on paper the 1k would be better suited for my lab since I use my computer a lot for production. Count me in for supporting this movement!

i see what you mean, but akai could offer them as an upgrade, like the exm 128, for the one kay.
so instead of redesigning the machine, they could actually rape our pockets instead. i would gladly pay 100 dollars for something that would make me not have to worry about my pads.
none of my pads have stopped working, but they're much less responsive than they used to be. well one of the pads id showing an on/off thing, as it decides itself when to work or not.

so count me in, i want a pad fix shizz!
