MCD in MPC 2000xl worth it?

New user of an 2k XL here but I already have extra zips, jaz, and ext scsi hds kicking around from being a long time Emu E6400 user.

I will be using the MPC for performance as why I got it, is the MCD worth all the trouble finding the parts and installing it if I already own the external drive options? :roll:

Hi my name's Strategy and i too was strung out on zip drives!!!!! but now that i been rehabilitated through MCDs i don't have to worry bout drives failing on me and losing my work plus i enjoy faster load time and i can carry around 1GB of mpc samples in my shirt pockets. so yes the $44 dollars i spent is well worth it. so do yourself a favor and get on board the card reader train and forget that zip drives ever existed!!!!

I just bought a couple 1 gb compact flash cards for $25 each. how many zip disk does that equal too?

read all the posts about zip drive disasters and you'll see

No moving parts to eventually fail on you, what's not to love about that? Slightly higher loading, saving. Smaller physical size, more storage space, if format in xp fat/fat16 files can EASILY be swapped from computer to mpc and back (stay with 8 digit character filenames)..

Well worth it especially if your computer/laptop already has an card reader. Makes it so much easier to go back and forth from the computer/laptop. Also no moving parts as Lampdog stated which gives u more security over not losing your stuff(you could still loose work but its unlikely).

i wouldnt even bother with my mpc if i didnt install my card reader ..

it was easy and cheap ran me 35$ to throw one in my mpc2000xl that is alot more durable then the mpc1000 and 2500 cf readers

ebay man just search for ide card reader then go to the store search u will see it there its white and works perfect on my mpc2000xl
