1000 or 2500

I don't know which one to get. I am planning on using the JJ OS I have heard its dope from a few different places. I checked out the comparison chart and it doesn't really have a chart for the new os. I am itchin to make a move and get one.

For the dough the 2500 isn't a bad piece. But if your like me... and looking for the best value the 1K does me justice... (even without the JJ OS) If this is your first MPC you can't go wrong with either, but I take the 1K... I heard complains about the pads... Lack of auto chop (AKAI OS... but soon you would want to chop it manual) and the outputs... only 6, no auto chromatic... but blue box works. I guess it comes down to your work flow and how you envision your set up. my 2cents.

so can you see the waveform to chop it with the 1000?

And I don't mean to be a bother but what are the main enhancements with the JJ OS

For my setup and workflow I want to be able to get tracks done quickly, or get some good loops going without staring at a computer screen for hours. I think I am going to shoot for the 2500 It looks great and I am willing to spend a lot of time with it, learning the tricks. For my setup I plan on using soft synths sampling them and using them in the mpc. I want to make mainly house tracks but wouldn't mind dabbling in some hip hop as well.

In my opinion the latest 1000 OS from akai is more than enough.

^^^^ true... alot of heads been tripping of the auto chop and chromatic stuff... pong? whatever... Yes you cans see the waveform but the graphics aren't that detailed... plus when you chop in the 1K the sound is converted to mono... (don't know about the JJOS though... I don't use it) I get moving pretty fast on the 1K... It's the center piece of my rig... and I don't travel without it... perfect for house if you ask me...

reason enough to get the jj os. it doesn't force you to chop in mono

if you're making house and using the 1000, you're missing out by using the akai os even more than hip hop people due to all of the qlink stuff. you can't even assign a qlink to a whole program in teh akai os

the jj os is perfect for house... and a hell of alot more fun than the akai os.

didn't know that thanks... but I still hate the wave graphic... even with zoom in and out...

you'd be surprised, i find it quicker and easier to navigate than Sound Forge's waveform editor, or recycle.
