MPC 60(II) vs SP-1200

Hi guys -
I've been offered the chance to buy both these machines - but i can only afford one...
Wich one would you guys recommend - pro's and cons...

I already have a MPC3000LE.

1600 for the sp (almost new)
about the same for the 60

i say go with the sp1200, hope its the all black casing...

you'll dig the lo-fi more than the 60, if anything, but i dont think you'll need to, but you can just midi up the sp 1200 if you the sequencing of the mpc....

seriously 1600 is way to much for a 60...you can get one for $500-$1000 easy! If you don't need a tight sequencer, or extra sampling time then go with the 1200 cuz I hear the grit is better, but if your looking to use it standalone I'd say go with the 60...

I guess I could use the 3000 for sequencing - and use the sp for sampling.

the biggest keypoint in the french thread is the sequencer. i have never worke d with an SP1200 but form my understanding it has a verry hard and limited sequencer compaired to an MPC. also, the 10sec divided in 4 blocks of 2,5sec can be difficult, but the timbre of the machine makes up for it.

still, 1600 is alot of money, but if you realy want a new machine, go with the sp1200, the sound is just sooo raw and you have a 3k to slave it to...

I have a 60 & SP-1200 I can post some sound examples from both machines in a few days. I'll sample the same sounds into each unit and make a basic drum track/beat.

If your buying the sp-1200 for the sound, rather buy the sp-12 turbo for around 500 bucks instead. Thats what i did and i didnt regret it. The sp-12 is exactly the same as the sp-1200, but its only got 5 seconds sample time(apposed to 10 on the 1200) and has no internal disk drive. But if your buying it for the sound, then i think it would be smarter to save 1000 dollars and get the sp-12.

Also, its worth mentioning that the classic sp sound really kicks in once youve tuned a sample. Which will be most of the time considered most samples will be sped up to begin with(to fit in the 2.5 second sample slots) and then slowed down on the sp when tuned. Then it gets that classic gritty ring mod like sp sound.
