switch off follow midi triggered notes?

have my mpc1000 for almost a year now and use it mostly in combination with Ableton Live for recording audio and midi.

the thing that annoys me is that when i record some midi notes in Ableton that trigger the MPC then those notes show one by one on the MPC which makes it basically impossible to change any parameters of a single sound in the MPC while Ableton is triggering.

anybody knows how to switch off the feature where the MPC displays every note that is triggered by midi (while still playing that sample)???

is it because i don't explain it well enough (please say so) or doesn't anybody know how to do this? or is it impossible in the MPC1000?

The note won't stop changing no... while the 1k is recieving MIDI information... think like the MIDI is "playing the MPC" as your trying to ajust certain sounds... just stop the LIVE app... then ajust.


by the way... how is that LIVE app anyway I have it with Pro-Tools... but I never use it... can you or somebody break it down its capabilities and concept... I don't even know what it does really... but some one said something like a MPC... is this true? (LIVE didn't come with a manual...) THANKS...

That's a pitty. I would like to change stuff in the MPC to a single sound while Ableton is playing the MPC. Like that you can fit it in the mix. I don't like to stop the song to ajust a single parameter of a single sample


The best part about Ableton live is that you can build your own clips (midi and audio) which can be just samples or entire loops, basically what you would assign to a pad in the MPC. On the other hand you also have a sequencer were you can record audio and midi or the clips which you start and stop. The thing I like is that you can make clips like you do with the pads in the MPC and then play the clips (like the pads) and record that in the sequencer. Sometimes I make the clips and then trigger those with the pads of the MPC through midi.

Then there is the fact that every audio piece is sliced like in Dr Rex with time markers with which you can ajust the syncronization.
There are some pretty nice efx, VST support, rewire, save combinations of efx as a rack, add knobs to a rack with which you can assign multiple features within the rack, there's automation of all the parameters in the clips and in the sequencer... and much more, but these are the things I like about the program.

I prefer much more the sample editing in Ableton than in the MPC and the visual sequencer is clear (unlike the step sequencer in the MPC).
