Looking For 2 Things For My MPC...

I'm looking for the cable that can have my zip drive and scsi cd rom drive hooked up at the same time. I'd like to save my work and turn off my mpc 2kxl instead of leaving it on for days and waiting until I finish it and record it.

My other problem is the power will flicker off and on real quick but it turns off my MPC. I'm lookin' for something that can prevent that from happening, what should I have hooked up to it?

dunno about the first question, but either a power conditioner could workor one of those office supply surge protector box's with the battery backup. ap-somethin makes one for like 50 bucks that has 3 battery backup slots and then 3 more with just surge protection. might be the ticket.

ive got a scsi cable if you want it, i used a cd rom but it buggered up so the cable needs a good home.

is that the CD ROM? mine did that then it died, now its a drink coaster!!

I think you can connect both devices inline - that is, first one to the MPC, and then first one to the second one. You will notice that each SCSI drive has two connectors on the back. Then you just have to give both a unique ID (usually there's a switch in the back to change that between 5 and 6), and set the second one's Termination to On. Then you can select SCSI ID 5 or 6 depending on which device you wanna use in the Save/Load screen on your MPC.

That way you would only need a second SCSI connector cable. Is that what you wanted to know?

Maybe, I'll have to get another scsi cable to try it. But I had tried unplugging the cdrom to then plug in the zip drive instead and it mpc doesn't detect it. So I'll try what you said with another cable and see. How do you guys save your work though? Basically with the zip disks? Cause I hate having to keep my mpc on for days..

does the device that does not work have different scsi id's at the back, ie on my cd rom it has little pins that you can move and they corrrespond to scsi 1-7 on this one (1-4 0n mine)

I never used a CD-ROM to load sounds from, so I would only need a ZIP drive. If I had to take sounds from a CD, I would probably transfer them via PC to a ZIP disk.

mines got a internal zip drive, i save there.
