How do I find out what records have been sampled?

Im listenning to all these hip hop records and I like the jazz that they sample but I want to know what records were sampled, is this info on the CD? do they have to declare that or is it a mistery?

why would you want to sample the same shit someone else has already sampled?

Oh ha! I wanted to do it to just get a feel for the type of stuff peeps sample thats all, cos I been getting jazz and i cant seem to find the sounds im looking for, cheers

what kind of music are you into making? hip hop beats? if so, the most common records to sample are soul, funk, classical, and generally pretty old music, lots of female 50-60's singers, etc...

thats the fun of digging..."ohh so thats what its from...I remember that one on the P.E album back in 88" plus, because of sample clearance laws these days you will be hard to find credits on a cd for some 1 bar sax loop from jazz record from the 60's or whatever.so dig on, player.djm1
