NO I just wanted a back up.... The o.s. is finally getting there but the quality is something else......And yes the PADS.
So I decided to keep a backup in case I need to get the unit repaired, so I won't have to wait, just slide my drive out and right into the other.
They are cheap enough to have a backup-Why not....

I won't answer that directly...but ust throwing this out there....with the price of two 1000s, you could have just purchased an MPC 2500 and wouldn't need a backup. The JJ OS makes these units nearly identical. (Like Cubase and Nuendo ). But of course, if you like to travel.................

Well I will answer to that because I love how this mpc1000 fits in my laptop case, I jump around from studio to studio alot at times, and its so nice when I have to go on a plane and it fits neatly up in the storage above yo head......If I purchased a mpc2500(and believe me I understand your reasoning, but) its too big and I would of course need a bigger case and it would just not be convenient for me right now.....NOW THAT ALL SAID, What Akai needs to do is come up with a MPC1500-Which would have the regular sized pads and a flip screen and able to hold 512mb of ram and firewire connection and VGA output and ...I could keep going and going on how to improve the MPC1000.......But let me come down to reality......AKAI WON'T , OK LET ME CALM DOWN NOW.....

Well that would be nice, but usually they have a mpc2000 or 3000
And I got rid of my 3000 years ago and anyway what would I do, What request that?...And then carry my hard drive around in a plastic bag and then have to dissect a mp there at the studio so I could start working........Makes no sense! And by the way I could buy 2 mpc1000 and still have enough money left over for 1 or maybe 2 100gig hard drives.......
THE 2500 is nothing more than a over priced 1000......Who should pay $1200 more for the PADS -AKAI MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE

Just wanna ad that I use to love the the 3000 but today is a different world with technology, I just can't understand why AKAI takes soooo long for updates.........And why do they go backwars for a minute and then finally start to go forward with their updates....Whats the deal with that????

But all jokes aside, the MPC 2500 was created/based on the negative feedback received from MPCs users when the 1000 was released. So if the MPC 2500 is overpriced..than so was the MPC 60, 2000, 2000XL, 3000, and 4000.

And....Ensoniq and Emu stopped producing similar products because they were not making ends meet...Ensoniq took forever to create an OS that was stored in flash ROM.


*20 year technology is worth about $1200 plus today. 2002 technology is worth about $400-500 today.

You see this is true about the 2500 being made because of negative feedback, which reinstates what I said about AKAI taking sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo loooooooooooooonnnnngggggggggggg before updating their O.S.

And by the way have you ever owned a ensoniq product.......And still with their ancient O.S. -they have more features than any mpc out there

Yes, I owned an Ensoinq ASR-10. The ASR-X drum machines had many features but the MPCs series won out for stability and eas of use (among other things.

As we constantly talk about Akai updates...if you look how often Roland, Yamaha, Korg, etc upgrade their products, you will notice similar efforts.

The key word is peers. You don't own an MPC so you don't count. But it is not a requirement (anymore) to actually own/use an MPC here. So what are you doing today? Window shopping for Ensoniq or Emu samplers because your software sampler isn't warm enough? I just checked eBay. They have several for sale that even you can afford.

Aflo, you will find all the useful information you need in the manual. And there hasn't been one of my threads that were moved to OFF TOPIC that wasn't started there. But thanks for paying attention. Continue to do so and you will also learn how to use your drum machine..or at least you will learn that there isn't an ignore poster option.

JJ answer about the vvolume of the track says, is it just working from 0 to 127. 127- 200 -- is purely inefficient.

so i think after my mail, jj has thinking to switch volume to velocity, and make it better (100 % = 127, 0% == 0).

i find the new look nice and more clear.
