ok im having some trouble understand what all these memory things on the 1000 are for and stuff like what is a bigger hard drive needed for and whats saved on it as well as a cf card and ram?
anyone help me out with understanding this better, i have read the memory posts but it just might be me but i still dont quite understand what its all for.
Also any advice on which ones to purchase.

youve got ram, either 16 or 128. when you load a project off of your CF card, all of the data is being loaded into your ram. the mpc can only work with data thats in its ram..

the harddrive functions the same as a CF card. except its cheaper to get more space. i have a 60gb drive in mine...a lot of times now when i sample vinyl i sample alot more generously because i have a ton of space to spare. i still use my CF card as my 'temporary' storage and my hd as 'permanent' storage... for example, i may sample a bunch of phrases and save them onto my CF card until they are trimmed and processed, then save them onto my HD library.

anyways, hope that helps i was kind of confused about this back in the day ;D
