Why is my 2500 autoloading my memory card upon startup?

Why is my Mpc autoloading as many files as it can from my memory card everytime i turn it on? I have Autoload turned off from within the load page, but that function only seems to allow me to turn off autoload regarding the internal memory. Is there anything I'm overlooking.

The MPC will load the Autoload folder on the CF card everytime if there is one, regardless of the Autoload setting. So make sure to keep your card out of the slot if you power on the MPC.

Oh, and I found this info on p. 110 of the manual

Yeah. I'm aware of that feature. Thats not the case either. Theres no autoload folder on my card, at all. Everything is autoloading from the ROOT. Why's this happening?

Hm, that's weird. Is it the factory delivered card, or one of your own cards?

It's a "SanDisk ULTRA II 1.0 GB" compact flash card. It's been working fine for months, then all of a sudden this happened.

Sometimes, I'm also getting a wierd error message that I've never seen before when I try to load up anything else and clear the RAM.

It seems to early to be experiencing these kinda problems, I'm mean it's barley a year old and it's never taken any falls or anything, not even the slightest bang.

Any ideas?

it's in the internal memory. thats where the autoload feature is loading from.

i would backup your entire card to your harddrive, and reformat the card, then put everything back. i've had to do this a few times for various reasons.

He claims that Autoload is switched off though.

Thanks for the suggestions. I called up Akai today, and the tech guy said he'd never heard of a bug like this. He told me to reinstall the OS and see if that fixes the problem. I'll let you guys know.

yeah that might be the best thing to do i had a mad problem when i press note repeat it woule repeat a sound with out me even touchin the pad i want to note repeat which was mad

Yo i have the exactly same CF card and the same issue with it

I know what your talking about i dont think its the card or the os, i have the same issue with both my kinston 512 and the ultra 1 gig, i was thinking it was some of the programs that i put on the card, because it doesnt occur with the card that came with the unit. have you purchased any programs or waves online? i 1st realized the problem when i bought some drum programs that were built on a mpc 1000. so even with the new card i didnt have a problem until i loaded some of the program back on to it. im still having the same issue even though ive formatted and switched os
