so i guess that each sequence can be looked at as a layer? so you could have sequence one 3 minutes long, complete with chorus, breakdowns, outro, etc. sequence 2 could be your sample patterns, and 3 could be kick, 4 snare, 5 closed hat, etc.

would the grid mode become a playlist then? actually, grid mode only shows sequence data. (i talk to myself often)

i wonder if they could put in a playlist, meaning it would look just like the grid edit window, but instead of plugging in individual samples, you could plug in sequences. then i guess i would have fl studio in a box huh? lol

when JJ had the list of features to be added to the 1k 'pattern mode' was on there. song mode on my mpc is pretty basic. i would love to see it overhauled and turned into something more complete like a pattern playlist.

what do you think "pattern mode" is? i'd forgotten all about that til you mentioned it.

even if/when we reach the whole maximum mem thing, there are still plenty of functions that could be improved/redone

song mode is definitely one of them. sht is elementary, like 1,2,3,4...could be so much cooler.

hey nym, are you going to suggest that to jj? i remember saying that they contacted you about my posting their email address, so i am assuming you may have some pull over there. grid song mode would take the 1k to another level as far as arranging goes. i just wonder how many patterns/sequences you would be able to play at once. unless it just boiled down to polyphony.

i think it probably does boil down to polyphony.

quite honestly, i kind of trust them as to what will be put into this machine. i've ceased to make any serious kind of request other than guiding what they've already put in there, because i've yet to master completely everythign that's there already. until i no longer feel like i can learn anything else w/ what i've got goign on right now, i doubt i could make any kind of comprehensive feature request that i wouldn't regret/edit later

i don't see why grid song mode wouldn't be a possibility though, esp due to this whole simult sequence thing.

as is, though, simult sequence is going to be amazing. grid song would be even more amazing. you see the same thing in FL and reason, block notation of songs and such. it'd be cool. but meanwhile, i've got an album to finish...haha
