sondfonts to pgm!

i just found this great little 30-days-trial prog

it lets you convert soundfonts directly to mpc 1000 pgm format!

i didn't test it too long cos i wanted to share my excitment with you guys, but if it really works without major problems, we can triple our sample-collection in notime!

yeah, but only semi-happy. it says the trial only works for 30 days, and 100+ $ for purchase is far too much! so i think i have to reinstall it over and over. or we all gonna get the trial, convert lots of different fonts and share them in this forum...
just a thought.

i've never used a soundfont and i'm having a hard time finding some.

some soundfonds really suck and sound cheesy as hell, but some are quite good...

yes its true you can find some quality soundfonts. i did some digging a while back and was suprised. i own awave so at the time i was just converting them to wav.

Honestly, I've never had a problem finding good ones to use.

Been using them for years and have a very decent sized library of them.

in some other thread, someone asked what else would be possilbe for jj to put into his os. and here is my eventually incredible stuid question:
wouldn't it, in some way, be possible to really load and play soundfonts with the mpc without converting it?
soundfonts consist of layered samples, chorus, reverb and paning informations. all this can be done by the mpc... but i have no idea of programming and stuff and i dont know if it's possible to convert soundfonts so they can be interpreted by the 1000.

that'd be cool, but if it was processor heavy i wouldn't be into it.

question - i've spent some time trying to figure this out but couldn't get it to save the entire collection to pgm, only 1 sample...any tips?

i rightclicked in the left window on a programs and choose "safe bank" or something like that. i'm gonna look it up tomorrow.

wow, thanks. great resources everyone - i didn't make the connection that reason uses sf2 files.
