Saving problem :(

I spent HOURS working on a project, made so much progress. I go and "SAVE ENTIRE MEMORY" like I normally do, I went to autoload, and replace all files... isnt that what your supposed to do? I restart my mpc and EVERYTHING is the way I had it days ago... aka: my new stuff is nowhere to be found... im verrrrrrry pissed off.

nah his problem isn't an akai bug, it sounds like user error. no offense, i actually do it too sometimes and usually find it somewhere i didn't actually mean to put it, like in the root folder of a mem card/hard drive. sometimes in my drum sample folder, since i had been browsing there at some point.

look around. you might find it somewhere.

otherwise, there IS a problem in the akai os's saving. you'll run into it sooner or later (sooner) while making a new folder.

This version is alot better? Is it pretty similar? Yeah I couldnt find my files anywhere... I am almost positive I saved it correctly and it was nowhere to be found. I kept telling myself it was my fault (mainly because I didnt want to think my mpc had a fault) anyways, I may load up this other OS soon..

It's official! I absolutely hate the user interface on the mpc1000. It never saves things when I tell it to, things dont load properly... Im pretty im doing things correctly here I just ... cant stress how much I dislike it! I am going to download the other OS some guys reccomended. I kept saying am I really this slow at learning but no! I grew up on Windows, use Mac's these days... ::sigh::

The other thing I cant get past is when I save all my progress and work to my flash card it saves "the entire memory" which includes the samples that come with the mpc... they get in the way! Im just having a bad night with this thing...

im not sure if this is your problem, but it's happened to me a few times... make sure that when you are saving you select the "replace files" option. otherwise, the changes you've made to the sequence and sample files won't save, because the mpc wont replace the old files with the new ones you've just been working on.

and to get rid of the stock samples, just load up your entire memory, delete the programs that contain the stock samples, and select "purge." purge deletes any samples that are not currently in use by a program, so as long as your other samples (the ones you want to keep) are all assigned to a program, only the stock ones will be deleted. then re-save to a fresh folder, without the stock samples.

not good advice - don't select replace files. infact don't save over old files at all.

always make new folders and save entire memory into new folders and delete old ones. this avoids corruption and confusion.

don't wig out on the interface, it's pretty tricky, i totally agree.
but it's a secret language that all the heads learn to translate dope beats to the masses.

So when saving entire memory... say into a brand new folder (i like this idea) If I make an autoload folder, whats the story on autoload... it doesnt autoload seq, songs does it? So I would save the memory to a new folder, then also autoload... if I choose to use it, overwriting does freak me out a little..

If you load the JJ OS from that webpage, don't forget to backup all your files to a computer first - then load the new OS, and REFORMAT your compact flash/hard disk in the MPC1000 (JJ OS 3.06 and newer fix a file system bug). Then transfer your backed up files back to the card and enjoy the new improved OS.

Greeeeeeeat. Well I loaded this new OS, I didnt realise there was a $30 charge to save stuff. I wanted to load the old version for now but it isnt on my flash card, so I cant save the old OS to my flash card? They tricked me!

Thanks for the link. I'll try that free version. The only problem now is with the JJ version I loaded doesnt give the save feature, so I cant save ANY OS to my flash card... Unless there is some kind of factory reboot feature Im going to have to find a buddys computer that can load stuff onto a flash card.

(edit) I finally got it to load, it wouldnt sync with my mac the first few times but finally popped up. Im going to try out Version 306.
