attack/decay using zones

is it possible to have, say a layered snare, using the zone function, and be able to set a different decay for each zone of the layered sound? This is vital to my beatmaking process because I have a source set of drums that i layer differently for each beat. Before I got the 4000, I used to layer my drums in the 2000xl very easily, and I was able to set the attack and decay for each sound individually, just by setting them for the pad that was being triggered by the master pad, that was playing the other layers.

any help is appreciated, this has me real frustrated.... because it was so easy in the 2000xl and this 4000 is an upgrade... supposedly.

the only way i can think of if you create a new program and trigger two diffirent programs out of one pad

4000 **** SUCKS THEN... even old ass gear like the asr 10 can do simple shit like that. **** all that other nonsense if it can't do something as simple as that. what a waste of money.

im wondering the same thing, but im sure it's not that complicated

I don't have a 4k yet, but I wonder if maybe changing the number in the Zone field in the Edit 1 page will do the trick? That is, maybe the settings shown there are actually shown for the current zone?

It can be done. You have change the program from drum to keygroup. After that you have to go to span in the pitch field and hit window and turn set keyrange via midi. Now just use a different keygroup for eah sample and set them in the same keyspan. To set the keyspan go to span in the pitch screen and tap the pad you want the sample on once to set the hi and once to set the lo.

what you asking don't seem to be that difficult, plus its more than 1 way off doing something like that. I learned to experiment thats why i don't ask to many questions, plus experimenting helps your creativity. one!

They should fix that in new osses, its a shame that such a comprehensive sample engine cant do such a thing.

Im also wondering, does anyone know a way to trigger the attack with the velocity????

Well for informational purposes, I was going over this

The envelopes are program based on the pads rather than the samples directly

You could achieve your goal by resampling, but thats not very practical considering you need to be able to tweak it

Mohammed, in the Zones, there is a Start field to be edited amougest the four layers of Zone, as maybe the Filter zone could apply to the decay, maybe not I don't have my MPC near me to try it out, maybe someone try these 2 and let us know how it comes

I noticed there are also alot of untapped resources inside the Program Modulation window maybe inside there is some sort of resolution or workaround to the problem, Ill try experimenting tommorrow
