is hip hop ever in 3/4 time sig?

i've been running into a lot samples lately that i been wanting to just loop and not chop, but they're 3/4 or 6/8 time signatures. from what i've seen, hip hop is 4/4 time sig. but is hip hop ever in 3/4 and is that still rappable?

Nope.. The up 4 down beat is pretty consistant in our music... I guess because of repeat return to "rhyme" with rhythm... (bars) you can still do it... but the groove would be corny... like a waltz... or sum ish... You should chop... and make it 4/4... save different time sigs for R&B...

I believe "Kanye West - Spaceship" was in 3/4 time!!!!

its possible. experiment with it. i dropped a beat in 3/4 before. the trick is delivering it so you wouldnt even question the rythym. after you loop up something at 3/4 a few times it'll feel just like one of those slow tempo/double time soulja style south beats but with its own swing.
or just play with how you drop the loop chop something up on that last 1/4 to make it 4/4

who ever said no???? ive done hell beats wid like a 4/4 groove and then a 3/4 break down or sumthin like that, u can make it sound fukn ill. ive also done jus straight 3/4. and rappers, well i think personally that what ever has a tempo, u can rap over or sing, its all the same principals. never limit urself

I've done SO many beats in time signatures other than 4/4.

I've heard beats from others not done in 4/4.

I have also did many other time signatures

i make beats in 3/4 alots of times... MOST OF THE TIME, my beats are not 4/4.

fuk premade patterns... i make my own path.

and if a MC tells you he cant rap over that beat, he needs a slap in the face and put the rhyme book down.

there's no magic formula for success, just experiment and learn. if you want to try a hiphop song in 3/4 time, just do it!

I haven't heard that k west yet... but I'll check it out... for all ya'll tripping about me saying "How Hip hop is supposed to sound" Take a look at our artform... the majority sticks to the 4/4... Who nods they're head to 3/4 time... ? get a grip... I don't have anything against innovation... But Hip hop is from the street and it will only be on the street... and where I'm from the homies don't "waltz" on the corner...

If what you say is true about the Kwest (I will check this out) then I doubt it 100% hip hop (probly rap & bullshit)... so please, don't get it confused when the artform is mixed up with some pop culture fad... 3/4 will never be a norm in rap music (and you know this) stop being agrumenitive...

remember spoken word over break beats... maybe thats what your thinking of... not hip hop.

6/8 is a very natural time signature, but since u r asking the question then it should be obvious that it isn't common. it's nice to experiment, but don't lose sight of the fact that rap music is popular music.

also 2 say that there is no rules to music is like saying there r no rules to life. music is based on mathematics just like everything in this world and math has laws. just by the virtue of calling a certain type of music hip hop means that it has to have a certain sound, which is a law.
