Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I recently got my mpc and been working away with it.

I went back to some of the floppy disks that i had sequences and programes on and when i tried to load the sequence it said it was the wrong file, and when trying to load programes it said the file was damaged.

luck enough i had backed up these discs on my pc :D and when transfared back again on to floppy they worked fine.

The only thing i can think that has gone wrong with the disks is that they were sitting beside one of my speakers and this has damaged them

Has anyone else had this problem and what should i do to keep my disks healthy

Yep, Ive had that probem before and its a sure hemorrhoid (pain in the @$$)! The thing is, floppies go bad all the time. Either they've been placed by a speaker and the magnet f'd it up or they just wear out over time. What you can do is, load the floppy on to your PC, dump all the sounds into a folder and then burn the sounds to a CD ;) Thats what I did and now Im a happy camper :)

Sloppies, um I mean floppies are super sensitive to magnetism, probably more than zips since zips are in a thick plastic exterior and floppies are in a thin tiny one.. plus they are manufactured in SUPER bulk,so there's bound to be defective ones in the bunch... I never had a problem with my zips but I had like quite a few bad floppies in my day...

my mom is ALWAYS cleaning the house. ALWAYS. she cant leave anything alone.

so im at work, doin my thing and was leaving to go away for the weekend when i got off. i had just finished all of the beats for my ep. this was probably a year ago. i was doing beats right out of my bedroom, no computer or anything. all my beats were saved on floppies.
my mom decided to neatly place my box of floppies containing all the beats for my ep on the stereo speaker. by the time i got back it was too late. lost em all.
