Checking the buttons..

Is there any way to check to make sure the buttons are functioning correctly? Not the Pads. My tap tempo for some reason just took a schyt on me. I just upgraded to the 3.04 version, and went back to the 3.03 thinking it may be something with the OS. Still didn't work. I've barely had this MPC and I know it ain't buggin' out on me already!

Try the Akai OS 1.22 and report back.....since this is about the JJ OS, posting in the right forum may get you a more prompt response....

Not really about the OS tho.. I just pot the OS version in there because I may have got a question regarding what verson I was using. I just need to know if the button if functioning without having to take it in to get repaired. If it responds but isn't changing the tempo then I may be able to fix it myself, but if it's not functioning at all, then there is nothing that I can do.

It may or may not be about the OS...which is a reason why you should test the other operating systems...

There are ways to assign different functions to the pads, so there may be a way to assign the function back to the tap-tempo button. The button doesn't sound like anything is wrong with it, but I just want to try out any options that I may have. I may try and take this back to the store and get a replacement.
I'll try the akai OS first thing in the morning.

You mean with the JJ OS? If you are using that, the FIRST thing I would do if anything doesn't work, and I'm not sure if it's hard- or software, is change back to an official OS before even thinking about something else.

sumtimes the trigger unda the button slips off the internal trigger unda the faceplate, take off the faceplate and make sure that it is connected properly
. otherwise, did u buy the product brand new or second hand?? it could be jus mashed up. r u heavy handed on it??? i have had to get my down butn on the cursor as well as the shift butn and the mode key all replpaced cuz they jus went to shit. tho, and im pretty sure this might b the czase, when i 1st got it, it was my 1st mp and i think i might have been a bit to hard on the butns, plus i use the sucka everyday for at leasdt a couple hours so i guess it all adds up in the end. while i had my mp in the repairs i was able to borrow a brand new one from the shops, and all the butns were way sensitve, and solid too, and i could tell that by the way i handle my mp now(delicate+swift), that the butns would last ages for meh, so im guessing its jus normal ware n tare.

naw.. not heavy handed at all... I'm the type that cringes when other people get on my MPC. Never had a problem out my XL in the 6 years that I had it, so I definately don't expect any problems out of a 2 month new 2500. I'm on my MP just about every day also, so it's got to take a beatin'. All the extra functions are worthless if I'm gonna go through schyt like this on a regular. It's something I can work around, but still.. we'll see.. any more problems, and I'll go back to the XL. I still haven't went back to the akai OS yet.. working overtime like crazy, but I'll try to get at it tomorrow. I'll let you all know what happends.

haha dope rokstar, i know how ya feel. its like someone playin wid ur girl or sumthin aye. anywayz, good luk to ya, hope it is jus the trigger slipn. it makes me think tho, the tap tempo is like the play butn, as in ther big and solid compared to the rest of em, like when u open her up, the support for the big butns(tap tempo, play etc) looks way stronger than the others, and apperently, these should b the last butns to go, so im told.

Loaded the Akai operating system back up (didn't want to return it to Guitar center with the JJ OS installed) and I figured I would try the tap tempo. Not expecting anything, it's works perfectly. So now I'm back with the Akai OS.. Why the tap tempo didn't wanna work with JJ's OS is weird.. worked on all the others except the last version, but when I went back to 3.03 it still wouldn't work. Weird..

lost it shit. same shit happened to that other cat. i loaded up 3.04 last night and made a beat and already came across a few bugs that akai have fixed ages bak, but still, sum good features. the trim section is dope.

boy.. i just couldn't get down with the akai operating system. Tried the JJ os once again and for some reason the tap tempo works with 3.04 all of a sudden. I'll go with the akai os once they update it, but for now, I think I'm sticking with this version. I'd like to fully utilize the cd-burner, and I don't know if JJ is supporting this on the future OS. If he does, I'll gladly give him the $30 for the os.. much deserved for the amount of work he's been doing.

Ok here's what the problem is, when you go into the pad mode and assign the pads to the tempo function, even when you disable the pads, the tap tempo won't work. You have to change the tap average back to 2,3 or 4. SO if anyone is having the same problems with tap tempo on JJ's operating system, hopefully this will help you out.
