Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Well, i'm new here... And i wanna ask a newbie question..

What's better ? An IDE ZIP (nothing around my MPC, 250 Mo, but slower) or a SCSI ZIP (faster but 100 Mo, connections).

The question is for live shows, because the time needed to load is important...

Hope my english is not so bad... French guy here but trying to speak english...

If you need things that fast you would have to copy progs, seq, etc to a CD and load them from a burnt CD. That would be the fastest in my "opinion" but then you would have to transfer from MPC to ZIP and then to CD.

For live shows, don't.

Just make sets in which you can go 2-3 hours on a single load. I do it all the time. That completely eliminates time constraints.

Maykeul -

SCSI is tecnically faster than IDE. IDE is 100mb/s (megabits) and SCSI can get up to 233mb/s ... but the ZIP drive itself is slow.

The external 250 SCSI zip drive can only do 2.4MB/s (megabytes per second). The internal IDE 250 zip is the same exact speed. The way its connected doesn't matter.

I'd suggest getting a 750 meg internal IDE zip drive .. from what I read, its 3 times faster than the 250 meg zip drive at a blazing 7.5MB/s .. or if you are REALLY concerned about load times between songs, buy a 10,000 RPM external SCSI hard drive. You can even have the scsi ZIP drive and the SCSI Hard Drive connected at the same time with "daisy chaining".

Personally, I don't want to lug all that ish around :) Just the zip drive is enough of a pain in the butt. Good luck.

I can't wait for the next 2000XL (3000XL) with USB 2.0 support for external storage. (I just coin the phrase 3000XL don't get excited :D

160 GB External USB, you'll have tons of programs / seq / samples to choose from in lighting speed.

I wonder if the MPC 1000 is USB 2.0 and does it work with external hard drives?

No more Zip Disk to load. Just Think bounce between the computer, internet (downloading samples), USB drive in a snap.

Yo whats up man, I am french too. Concerning the zip drive, the MPC imports from IDE or SCSI, yes when you are working live its more better for you to "load" your MPC before the beginning of the show, you will be less annoyed. Yes, you can put 32MB of memory in the MPC. Man holla at me, I would like to come to your show. peace
