It was a bonifide MPC when it was released.

Whether it worked like you wanted it too or not is a different story.

It has always been an mpc though.

if i look at all those whining bitches who cry about the zillions of bugs in akai's products the 1k with jj os isn't an mpc anymore, is it?
apart from that i agree with lampdog, but still, simple things like the sample browser are highly appreciated.

Oh yeah no doubt, improvements are always highly welcomed of course.

@ anyone, remember how happy you were when you FIRST got your mpc and played with it all night like a little kid who just got his green Mattel classic football game (uh, different thread)?

Now it's a "bonifide mpc"??!? I'd say "improved" is more correct imo.

I'd say it was LESS of an mpc when it no longer has an official Akai OS on board ;)

How am I supposed to answer for "everybody"?

When it was made and sold what did you ask for at the store, an "mpc".
It did what it did and songs still got done. NOW, with the other os, it's improved functionality and stuff, people are happy with that. I've always suggested a 1k purchase over any older model save for the 4k.

Not talking about elitists (they KNOW where there hearts are at), I'm talking about the general user.

The MPC 4000 is in a class my itself for now.....but after the MPC 3000 and MPC 2500....the Akai MPC 2000XL is the next best choice for me.

im with the 'Dog.I was always feeling my 1k even when i first got it with the original OS.If you buy a home and later make improvements to it to make it exactly how you want...was it not a home when you first purchased it?JJ just made it more convenient to use standalone on my upinion.
