Hello,

i´m new to this board.

sorry for the strange title, couldn´t come up with a better one for the following question.

Is it possible to have a sample where i define a start and end loop-point and then i move the loop, for instance with one of the sliders, thru the sample while it´s constantly played?

That would be killer, if it isn´t possible right now prolly JJ is able ti implement it?

Thanks, sushiluv

looping on the newer mpcs still needs a lot of work. i've never worked with a file that i have had "loop on" on unless it's some record noise, but now i just put it on one of the audio tracks. likewise if i have a loop that i don't want to chop up and put on the pads to program out, i just put the whole loop in audio track and let it loop there. very easy way to do it.

however, i understand whaty ou're asking to do is different. at this point though it's not possible. however, the exact same effect can be created if you chop the loop into respective pieces and program it into the grid editor. you could even do it visually, then it's just a matter of fine tuning the seqence (tempo, sample chop tuning/timestretching and most importantly note nudging) to make the thing fit and sound the way it did before.

it's a long(er) process but in the end you'll have more control than if you were using a single loop file as opposed to the same file broken into 16 or so pieces.

in short, there are plenty of ways around this as of now lacking feature.

I understand that there are more ways to get a similar result.
as far as i remember some ensoniq Samplers where able to do this and it opens a whole new World of Sample mangling and sonic capabillities, like granular sounding stuff and more ...

Probably there´s a way to post feature requests to JJ?

Still i do think this feature could be quite usefull for a lot of MPC Hedz

thx for the quick reply!

Thak would be a nice feature sushiluv. If there was a option to set the sample length (distance between start and end points) to "fixed" we could change the start point value and the end point would move accordingly to keep the sample length intact, and vice versa. This would work in edit mode as well as in loop mode. Having the sample length to "fixed" is the same thing as set the start and end point ant the same time.

hm, so probably this isn´t a big deal to be implemented?

Is there a way to request such a feature to JJ?

hey sushiluv,
you can change start point on the fly using the qLink slider. with the note repeat set to crazy machine gun level you can do some pretty freaky sample mangling/granular sounding stuff.

it would be dope to be able to change the start time with a fixed loop distance. but there's still lots of sample mangling methods in the current jj os to play with.
