What will the 1000 do for you that the 2000 is not? Even if the 1000 has more features than the 2000, if the 1000 doesn't have features that you want/need, whats the point? I wish that I had bought a 2kXL instead of my 2K classic, simply for improvements in storage options alone, as well as a few other features, but there isn't anything (yet) that the 2kXL can do that I can't do on the 2K classic, even if I have to get a little creative or plan my work better.

Peace,

well i dont know much about the 1K. like can i use something other then a floppy and zip drive with it? if so that would push me into getting it. plus its smaller. saves me some room. ETC.

I´ve had the 1k and now I have the 2kxl and I wouldnť go back. The machine just feels better. A friend of mine is now using the black version with jj os and it has a lot of functions and I´d say it depends for what purposes you´re using your mp. If you're happy with what you have right now, don't change, if you feel like you need grid edit, more filters, outputs and cf reader, then go for the 1k. Me personally, I use the 2kxl with the asr and it seems to be much better than 1k on its own. I copped both for the price of 1k.

The mpc 1000 has much more great features (file tranfer, storage, edit, etc...) but the 2000 sounds better and has better pads !

People say that the 2000 sounds warmer.

but to be honest, the tracks ive heard from people who use a 1k on this board all seem to have this sweet sounding charicteristic that i think would be greatly "missed" when the next generation of mpc's come out.

The only thing you would really miss is the feel of the 2000. depends how you prioritize, feel or features?
