keyboard to mpc?

I just got the mpc 1000 and the yamaha e403 keyboard, what is the best and easiest way to transfer/record keyboard sounds to the mpc, are we talking usb? please help!

can I do this with a yamaha e403? I only have usb connection in the back. What cables do I need? Thanks for the help

you cannot! I repeat cannot transfer rom sounds to the MPC,you can record sounds into the MPC ,but not transfer! , = What your able to do is midi sequence or record a sequence that uses midi information to play back notes from the keyboard useing the MPC as Master Sequencer to record midi data. Study MIDI and Playing Wave files or Samples. here's a link on Midi.

The only way you'll get the keyboard & MPC to talk to each other will be to hook the MPC up to the computers MIDI port (if it has one) using regular MIDI cables, then hook the keyboard up via USB and then run a program like MIDI Yoke to allow them to communicate. All you will be able to do then is trigger each machines sounds from the other device.

If you want to record audio from the keyboard and sample it into the MPC, you will need to hook up the audio outs of the keyboard to the audio ins of the MPC.

As has been suggested by myself and others already, it's strongly advisable to read up on MIDI before attempting anything. The link I gave earlier and the link that DJ-T put up are both good places to start

Also, read the manuals of both the MPC and the keyboard too

no problem,jus read up on midi and get as much understanding how to use midi,once you get the basic,the rest is so simple.
