other ram memory cards compatible then the EXM128?

I just read in another post that U can Use another ram memory then the Akai EXM128.

Can somebody confirm this?

Wich are the one U have? Is working properly?

Kingston ram baby!!1 Works great!!1 There is a link around here in the 500 forums .....wait maybe it's in the 2500 forums?? ....oh well I can't remember. Get yourself some kingston ram and you'll be set. 128MB if you can find it ...if not 256MB well work just as well.

I was reading somewhere on the forums here that if you get one of these Kingston sticks of notebook ram, that you MUST use a 256mb stick IF you want to get the full amount of recording time available to a normal EXM 128.

The explanation was that because the EXM 128 has all its memory chips on one side of the PCB of the stick and that the MPC reads from that side ONLY. IF you get a kingston notebook ram stick that is 128mb it will have its memory chips on both sides of the PCB (64mb on one side 64 on the other) and because the MPC ONLY reads from one side of the pins of the stick you will only get Half the recording time.

SO... If you want the full amout of recording time you MUST get a 256mb stick because the MPC will only read from ONE side of that stick and you will get the full available recording time for the MPC

So I searched the net and found a store wich had the same ram memory as the one that where mentioned in that topic. It might be easier to install an Ram memory that I know works.

I bought this card off the net instead:

Kingston SoDimm 256MB PC133 CL3 144p

But thanx Upright! U saved me some $$$ cause the kingston ram is 3rd the cost of an Akai EXM128 ram expansion!!

Do I need to be connected to Anti-static ground when I Install the ram memory or can I just stick the thing right into the mpc?

If you have one available it most definitely won't hurt...but I just threw mine in (no anti-static).

I need one ASAP.

I found some alternate memory on eBay for only $44.29 buy it now, with a lifetime warranty. Don't know how trust worthy it is. Worth the look though.
