Are you suppose to track out everything at it's highest levels without peaking or are you suppose to track it out at the levels you think sound best in the MPC? I've been hearing different opinions on this. I think Just Blaze said in Scratch a few issues ago is that you should track out at the levels that sound best in your MP. However, Dr. No said you should track out at the highest levels without peaking. Can someone clarify all this for me?

peaking (or clipping) is when the sound is do loud that it distorts at its peak. if you have meters then they will be red at the top when the sounds hit. you should track out at the hottest levels you can get without it distorting. theres a few people here that can as far technical term wise. basically get em loud as u can without hitting the red

Try both and see which turns out best for you?

Try different variations and see what YOU like best.
