(YourMethod) Making basslines in mpc...

Actually, I still not own a midi cable to connect MPC to my MidiKeyboard (I have to buy).
I know there is a method to make basslines on mpc. I load a bass(sample) and than adjust the tune for each pad. But what's your steps? and you arrange in "velocity>tune" or "sample>tune"?

take a one shot bass sample.. loop it.. autochromatic assignment.. -> there you go

Just load the bass sample on one pad and then hit the "12 Levels" button, then select Tune instead of Velo. That'll give you a full 12-tone octave to play with.

avoid using 12 levels - make a chromatic program of the bass sample so you can use the qlink to slide notes to one another and control other cool filter/lfo effects a little less clumsily than what 12/16 levels offers.

but 12 levels is great for quick melodies.

I have to create a 'program' just for bass? isnt it?
coz' when u apply 12 levels on bass, automatically delete other samples (assigned to pads)...

no no no it doesn't delete other samples on the pads, it just...expands on the one sample you've put through 12 levels.

think about it this way - say you have multiple internet explorers/firefoxes/etc on the moniter at one time. if you maximize one, it covers the whole screen but doesn't close the others. same case with 12 levels. when you deselect 12 levels, you return to the pgm you were on.

however, i would suggest making a new pgm for bass - you have a 20 pgm limit, might as well use a couple pgms rather than relying on 12 levels cuz that takes up your qlink value instead of letting you use it for other things.

I haven't been spending that much time lately with the 500 and please correct me if I'm wrong here , but I don't remember the 500 having an autochromatic feature....I think you would have to create a program and do this manually like Antonym said.

I use a synth to make my basslines...via midi.

No .. i do this too .. its pretty easy .. and you are still only using the sample jeg just loaded .. takes almost no memory .. im still messing around with 16 ram ..

i see jowdjo said he,s looking to connect a midi keyboard to the mpc, if so im pretty sure none of the methods given will work especially the 12 levels. the way i mapped it out is i attached my midi keyboard to the mpc went into program mode were you can see what pad and bank is being trggered when you hit the keys on your keyboard so you know were the notes should be placed on your mpc, i actually did multi samples rather than one sample up and so my bass would sound better

yeah, I have to buy the midi cable. I tried 12 levs too, its nice though it gots just 12 notes , it should make notes till padbank 'D'
