spdif sampling

hello everyone, I'm far from a newb but new to posting on this forum or any forum, i tried to search for this answer but no luck.

I wanna use the digital input on my mpc to sample from a digital mixer(perferably a DJ digital mixer w/ spdif. like the dennons and numark ones) most of the digital dj mixers I see for sale nowadays processes with a fixed sampling freq and bit resolution higher than the MPC "digital cd standard of 44.1khz and 16bits"... therefore I want to know if i use a digital mixer with different spec would problems arise and what cost effective ways can I fix it? is there like a converter I can buy or is all spdif ins & outs the same no matter what internal processing happens within the mpc and other harware and I need not to worry. I dont know I'm lost.

I dont wanna to spend a grand or so on a workstation like a roland, or korg, yamaha, etc bcuz I like the feel of a traditional dj mixer btw two turntables but would like to be able to samlple in the digital realm. please I'm lost any help would be greatly appreciated... thanks in advance

You need a digi out with 44.1 sample rate, otherwise you will have to pitch up all your samples once they're in the mpc. I have a sound card with a 48 khz sample rate which works fine except for this minor extra hassle.

Do a google search for "sample rate converter".

That gots 2 be a pain. Why not use the analog outs?

Because sometimes I sample, resample, process, resample again and process through tape or some other crappy analog device then sample back and forth through computer and/or Akai S-20. By the time I'm happy with it, it can be noisy, so I clean it up in the pc and then shoot it through the digital out into the mpc. If it's a long sample I can't use the floppy, and my pc don't work with zip drives last time I checked.

It is all part of the process of having fun with technology, and more than often a lot of work goes in to nothing.

But I'm moving on to a 1000 now by the looks of things...

as an experiment I even tried to sample from the spdif out of my emu proteus 2000 sound module into the digital input of my mpc2000xl and it sounded like bull crap compared to the headphone mix from the proteus. so I guess I do need a converter, how much would a decent one cost
