I've heard it in ur beats

Whassup everybody, Just a question....

I've heard somethin in a lot of beats, and it's kinda urkin me, but i can't get it to work. I'm sure all of you have heard it or done it, but it's like a sample plays, then you got these echoes afterward that fade off..... It's hard 2 explain, when i get home i'll try to find a song that does it, but anyway, i know someone knows what im' talkin bout, and I just wanna know what you all do to do it.. Do you put it through sound forge? Or Pro Tools? And if so, what filters or what not do you use? Please help me out, because i got an idea, but can't simulate it... thanks ~1~

sounds like they put a delay on it.

I got the effects card in my 2kxl. I used the echo module to produce delay.

If you have no card, you can put the same sound on 8 or 16 pads and lower the volume in increments on each pad ie.. pad 1 would be full volume and pad 16 would be the lowest audible volume. Exactly like 16 levels except using volume instead. then you would have to tap out the delay. My advice, slow down the beat a little, set timing to 1/8 and go at it.

If you got a PC Daw use the delay and edit it to match your BPM. Make sure it delays Left to Right. That is phat.

Say I wanted to put a delay using sound forge, what setting would I go to... I tried doing it through Pro tools, with no luck at all, so if someone could help with Sound forge, cuz i know a lot of u all use it......

Could be a delay for sure, but if it doesn't sound like an echo that much but more like a sample repeating and fading away in volume you can do it on the mpc alone. Use the Note Repeat button to make the sample "stutter". Make sure you set a time signature that sounds right to you and then record it. Then go into step edit and edit the velocity for each step. Start with 100% for the first hit, then take 5 or 10% off each next step depending on how fast you want ti to fade out.

You set a sound to 16 levels VELOCITY, then you tap down the line to get less and less volume on that sound= homemade delay, but different, meaning, it starts and ends exactly where you want it. Premier and spinna trademarked this steeze, since the heyday of the SP1200, so it's been played for a minute tho...Experiment with note off, mon, and poly settings depending on the nature of the sample you are multi-leveling.
forget fancy delays and outboard efx, etc. for that...It still won't give tou the sound you are refering to.

I use both equally. Yes, I have created MANY songs with JUST the EB16.

copy the last part of the sample and assign it a new pad - then use velocity or you could try the loop function...?
