Recording Master Out

Hi everyone!
I would like to ask for your help. I lack the possibility to hook up my MPC 1000 to my PC, since there is no Audio In, neither do I have an Audio Interface. One could say that my finished songs are trapped on the MPC. However, I recently read that one user uses his 128 MB RAM to record the finished songs directly into the RAM, then onto the saving Flash Card, and finally, via the USB Connection onto his PC.

Could someone assist me when it comes to the initial recording process? I get mad white noise when I try to record the Main Out. I use the free version of the JJ OS, and would appreciate any help a lot!

P.S.: Last night I heard De La Soul's 'Stakes Is High' again, after what seems like a 5 year pause. What an amazing album, the beats just blew me away. Check it out again as I did, you will be amazed (again & again).

you might want to check that monitoring is OFF or you will get massive feedback when trying to record your main out...... maybe this is what's happening?

When you record main out, you should do so by selecting it as the input in the recording screen, not by looping the stereo out to the record in. That's what is giving you massive feedback.

I did all the things you two mentioned, I switsched off monitoring as well as the input (to MASTER). However, it still doesn't really work.
The received signal is still far from the quality that regular samples are recorded at.

Could someone leave a detailed description on how she/he records the MAIN output songs/samples/sequences?

That would be really nice ...

i don't have the link handy but there's a good demo on how to do this cleanly at futureproducers.com

1. go to the record screen(im not at home so im not sure but i think its mode + pad 6)

2. change the input from analog to main

3. press record(f6 i think)

4. the screen should say waiting for input or something, hit play on the mpc and it will change from "waiting" to "recording". there wont be a monitor so dont expect to see anything moving except the countdown clock on the record screen.

this does not require you to run lines from the mpc outs to the ins, as stated above. it will record internally, no cables needed other than monitoring.
