bad time right now, i'm supposed to be looking up snakebean recipes.
but ok. say you have a simple string sample, 1 note of a violin.
the same itself has an asdr in itself, the limits of the sample.
say you want to make it sustain longer though. if you copy the sample, put it on 2 different pads, take the 2nd sample in trim and shorten it from the start so that it starts in the middle of the sample.
now, put both on note on, with a modest decay. you can sustain them not by stretching/looping the sample, but by tapping them both into the sequencer at predictable or unpredictable intervals so the sample keeps going and going.
release can be emulated by either triggering these softer and softer as you go, or by using qlink to apply level and pulling it down in the way you want it to "release"
not the same as in reason where you have 4 dials for asdr, but if you do it right (and that may very well mean using more than 2 pads for one sample, playing w/ attack and decay for each) you can make it sound exactly the same. it uses the sequencer as S and R.
this is an incredibly brief description of the tactic, but if you know what you're doing you can see where i'm going in this technique.

easy fix for this just down load the emu sondfont there already coded for this ,but first u need a translated program to turn sondfont into wave file.
example i took a gutiar sound from the mophatt kit put it on a pad, turn on the note on, hold pad down and u have sustain,now go to the decay(also attack works to) and go from 5 to 100 and you have release,work fine on the mpc500,but on the 2500 iam gettin a low noise at the end of the sample must be a bug.

on the 2500, turn the decay all the way up to 100 to get that "noise" you're talking about, then record that into sound forge or something, chop off the attack of the sample you played so that only the noise exists, and normalize it. is it another sample on your 2500?

Selling mine on ebay currently. I'm gonna stick with the MPC1000 and grab the Roland SP-404 for portable work.

Too complicated for work on the run...and too complicated compared to the 1000. I'm sick of the menu diving. It's a good machine...but if you have better tools for your way of working...you have to use those tools.

Maybe you should just hold on to it....then again if your not using it at all......kinda stinks that no one has bid on it, I would think that people would be all over it at that price.

I get people who e-mail me questions thinking I'm selling a broken unit...or there must be something wrong with it if I'm selling it already... which is not the case...when I say MINT, I mean mint...my feedback should support that, but people are so damn scared of ebay that they fail to realize that I've been on there since 1998 and have nobody ever saying that my items are less than what I've described them to be.
Truth is that I'd like to use the money on other equipment and the 500 is redundant in my current set-up.
