Reading multiple cards with the cardreader.

How can you tell what card your saving/loading from with the cardreader? I plan on having a Compact Flash card as well as an CD card for backup and saving data. But how do you designate which card you want to save data to? Will it give you an option on the display? Like the Compact Flash will be "Device: SCSI-0" and the SD card will be "Device: SCSI-1"? But I imagine that won't be the case sense the cardreader is actual 1 device.

The scsi card readers AFAIK have different scsi id assigned to each slot of the card reader and can therefore have multiple cards accessible at the same time. The ide ATAPI cardreader can only recognize one card at a time. If you insert 2 cards like a CF and a SD card then one slot will take 'priority' over the other and make the other unaccessible by the MPC. I don't know which slot take priority though.

Sorry for bringing an old topic up, but can someone confirm/ elaborate on this. I.E. is it worth it for me to wait out to get a good deal on a SCSI reader or should I just go with a ATAPI reader and be content with using one slot at a time?

Despite the proliferation of card reader threads, I don't think this has been addressed too many times-- I waded through dozens of threads.

why would you wanna use two slots at the same time, man?
i got an atapi card reader and i fukkin love it.
all i wanted was being able to switch easily between PC and MPC..
thats what the card reader does for me plus loading and saving goes much faster..

Granted a CF card has no moving parts, they do wear out over time from constantly being inserted and ejected (also so can the reader).

I have a scsi reader w/ 2 cf cards one dosen't move (my save card), the other houses the drums I use and only gets moved if I choose to add a sound or swap out a sound. Also loading from 1 card and saving to another would be more efficent I would think,

You can only save or load anyway. Not both at the same time.
