im swapping out the floppy in my 2000xl for a zip ... ive already sorted the wires for power source... BUT im having alot of trouble finding a ribbon cable.. it has to be 32 pin to connect to the mainboard and 40 pin to the zip ... anyone know where to get a ribbon cable? 32 pin to 40 pin ?

I think u have somethings confused. Follow the info below. The zip drive should be ATAPI or SCSI. Its recommended u go for ATAPI. To be honest I recommend u upgrade to an Cardreader instead since it doesnt have any moving parts.

here's your problem you, have an 2000 classic model and you can't do that conversion that way.. you can only use SCSI... I've looked into getting some of those cables made, but figured... the SCSI way is the easy and best for 2000 people... no big mod. needed... SORRY MAN...

The data ribbon is the same as a ide/atapi pc hard drive ribbon, so go into a computer store and ask for an ide/atapi hard drive ribbon.
