Forum to discuss all matters relating to the MPC1000 and MPC2500 operating systems created by 'JJ' (all versions).

I'd like the ability to save programs and sequences in older MPC formats to make them compatble with older higher end MPCs such as the MPC 4000. If I could do that, then I could take ideas created on the MPC 1000 and transfer them to the MPC 4k for the finish. To tell you the truth, there really should be an OS update for the MPC 4000 to allow import of programs and sequences from the newer lower-end MPCs (500/1000/2500) but from what I read, it doesn't seem like MPC 4000 will be getting any new updates. So having an extra option to save programs and sequences in MPC 4000 format on the MPC 1000 would be a nice additional feature to have and make up for this.

I just think Akai's MPC file formats should be backwards/forward compatible with respect the feature sets of the different MPC models.

I want to sidechain the compressor.
Would mean much heavier beats.

for me its really annoying cause pad 1 doesnt work.

Id pay 60 if jj implemented those 2 features in....PLEASE JJ!!!!

that recall for the time correct would make things soooooooooo much faster

this would be a God Send

The best part about using reason is that I can create a quantinization from a midi file...(user feel) I can chop the feel of my live drumming and then apply the feel to my electronic overlapping drumming. If you can do that JJ, I will worship you. Then the 1000 would almost completly replace reason (minus the analog synths), id only use my computer for live tracking and mastering.

Got another one....although it is based on an earlier request...

I was in the USB menu..it allows you to select hard drive or CF card.....

The improvement would be for a 3rd option RAM. You would be able to drop samples directly from your PC to the RAM in your MPC....

Not possible since the USB port is a SLAVE? I don't know...maybe. If not this MPC..then the next (just like the 4000 or S6000 sampler).

i use track-assigned qlinks on virtually every track these days,

and of course the up/down (F3,F4 tr-,tr+) buttons are dead useful when doing realtime mods because they let me mod the track in 'focus'. but also, when doing live muting and jamming in the 'track mute' page, i really need the same F3+F4 track selection here too, so JJ please add this to a very Function-empty page.

in fact i believe in utilising any empty 'F-key' areas for particularly useful in every screen possible.

any ideas?

also,
what i meant to put in here was that the track that is in 'focus' (ie the one that is shown in the main screen) could be highlighted in the 'track mute' window, by having a solid outline instead of those grid-dots, or perhaps a grey background tone instead of white or black.

and the pad-pages of track mute windows (1-64 = a,b,c,d) could change as the selected track is inc/dec through a 16-17,b 32-33, etc.....

or am i the only one using an mpc this way?

These are called "groove DNA" files. (Logic and ProTools use them as well)
Import ability would be very nice indeed.
Simon Philips, Mel Gaynor etc. in your MPC...

i often import 'grooves' as midi files to my mpc1k, especially if i've made something more complex on my mac MDAW, and want to take it out live or apply it to my mpc seq tracks....

but yeah applying the quantise-nature of one musical part to another as a template groove would be very welcome internally.

qlink to sample loop posn.

how about sample loop position mod on qlink, unbelievebly i dont think ive seen it requested here yet. javascript:emoticon(':?')

also, any parameter modified by the lfo, with a better lfo page for mapping a few various program values to the lfo....like sample start, end,or loop posn.

At this point (OS 4.33) it would be nice to have the ability to alternate the simult sequence with the main sequence with the [window] button. Say you are looking at Seq 1 with all the tracks , tempo etc, while you have SS: 3 playing. Its would be cool to just place cursor over the SS and hit [window] to then have the main screen of Seq 3 displayed and the SS: 1 in the Simult window. That would be so good!! Basicly a "swap" between Simult Seq and the main sequence. Actually, it would probably be a little bit overwhelming.

One major improvment i'd like to see would be:
Low Pass or Band Pass filters etc..
on the left and right realtime audio inputs,
with independant LFOs (obviosly if theres enough CPU power)
Not just the single stereo filter with no LFO.

Thanks! (I really do think it would be easy for JJ to implement that feature.) :D

i often have my mpc sync'd to midi clock from another machine, and when the mpc's main window, the tempo readout goes to '(EXT)',

it would be helpful to know what tempo the clocks coming in at.
so mbe should be '(EXT)' with tempo shown underneath.
'xxx.x'
