Go and get it!

Bug fix: New OS Ver4.34 17-Jan-2007
---------------------------------
[MAIN]
A track cannot be changed while playing the sequence.

They must be really busy putting forth the final touches on the OS for Namm 2007.

Less than 2 days....

Rumors (and truths) are all over the internet. New products from Roland, Yamaha, Korg..and maybe even Akai.

does akai NEED a new product? sorry for hijacking

but what's your take, do you think they SHOULD make a new mpc at this point? granted the 4000 is discontinued now but unless the company really turns a new leaf it seems that they already have a LOT on their plate mpc wise.

maybe another anomaly like that wind controller.

now i'm dreaming, but what about a software pgm/seq/.all/.prj file editor? i bet that'd be hugely popular.

Its all good. I always get excited during this time...Namm 2007!

Well, if Akai discontinues the 4000 and possibly the 2000XL (which if I am not mistaken..has been manufactured for 7-8 years..making it the longest running MPC)...that will leave the MPC 500 and then 1000/2500, which are basically the same machine.

As a business, Akai was picked up under the same arm as Numark and Alesis...and I believe the goal it to advance technology and produce products for musicians. These newer MPCs are scaled down versions of the MPC 4000. And if the MPC 4000 was a leftover from the old Akai..it makes since (just my opinion) that the new Akai attempt a new highend model.

Is a new MPC needed? I am not sure. But I will certainly buy a highend MPC if they release another.

i wonder what the selling points would be. SOMEONE would have had to have been incredibly busy writing code for it - maybe hence the very similar code/issues in recent mpcs? akai coders busy working on an mpc XXXX?

there'd also have to be a new hardware addition beyond just qlink and pads. however, it'd have to control the same parameters, i bet, to preserve compatability.

haha what a pain to have to try vainly to figure out what those people are doing based on the incredibly limited consumer knowledge

it's like ancient people seeing a mountain and deciding some earth god put it there

Honestly, I always think there is room for another MPC. As long as there are plenty of MPC 2000XL, 3000, and 4000 users out there...there will be a market for a new MPC to entice them away from the older models. If the MPC 4000 is discontinued as reports go....that leaves a huge void in the MPC line. It was the first and only MPC that had a full featured sampler.

Well, its been months since there was an OS release for the MPC 2500/1000..so the coders were probably busing writing the OS to new MPC..perhaps..

....in 24 hours..we can end the speculation because Namm will be in full effect!

Well...what ever is coming....it better not be too far around the corner. I got my Namm money sitting to the side. The money can purchase a new MPC, MV, or whatever..whatever comes first, perhaps.....
