Like chop14u said, you should change the MIDI setting (shift+9) on your MPC to send MTC on the midi out that connects your MPC to the Motif. If you want the motif to stop playing when you push stop on the mpc, etc. then you should also select Send MMC: ON in the same screen.
There will also probably be a similar setting on the Motif to tell it to receive MTC on the MIDI in channel that connects it to the MPC. I don't have a motif, so you'll probably want to read the manual for more info.
As for the playing sounds, your MPC is receiving note data from the Motif, this is handy for playing chromatic samples, etc., but can be frustrating too. Probably the easiest way to stop this is to go to the main screen on the MPC, choose a blank (unused) track in the sequence, and set the S: at the bottom left to MIDI: Off, or, if you want it to trigger sounds from the Motif, then the appropriate channel the Motif is receiving on. I know that sounds kinda confusing, but, basically if you set S: MIDI: OFF the motif will stop triggering samples from your MP.
Good luck!
