Before i asked about changing my floopy to a card reader, one of the reasons i wanted to do this is? My computer has a card too. All of this was b4 I blessed with reason 3.0, now I'm wondering do i still need a card in my mpc 2kxl. I'm going to be trigger everything from my computer that going to have a MIDI INFERFACE.Becuase if i dont need to get it anymore can someone tell me?

Thank you for not posting everywhere this time. You need a mpc mcd if you are going to be transferring sounds from computer to mpc. I, myself, have a usb mcd on pc, internal mcd in my 2kxl. I use a cf card to transfer between pc, mpc and triton extreme. Both machines accept 44/16 wav's from pc so I'm set. I format my cf card in pc fat/fat16.

Okay dog, I got you. but now software dudes in reason are trying to tell me I need to just get rid of my mpc and get a mdp16. I love my 2kxl. What do you suggest becuase i had made the appointment to get my card reader put in already. but now you telling me to go with a mcd. I'm confused, becuase you are one of the first dudes to tell me to get a card reader. but I do know all of this was b4 reason 3.0 came in to play. now from the pc that has a card reader. do I need a card reader on the mpc too. if everything is going to be triggered from the computer. yesterday I just purchased a midi interface that connect from the usb. so now the computer is connected to the mpc. Can i just use that one card reader or I mos def need that mcd.

by the way what is a mcd, i know they have them on the akai. but is it just a muti card reader

The role of the card reader is to load, save and store.
If you are NOT going to be using card reader for that then don't get it.

If you are going to trigger your Reason sounds vie the mpc pads then NO mcd is needed.

IF, you end up getting an mpd get the mpd24. It is a better controller than the mpd16. NOW, the mpc pads can be used as to trigger Reason sounds JUST like an mpd, there's no advantage there. BUT the mpd24 has knobs and sliders for midi controlling. a 2kxl doesn't have that.

Are you going to be using the mpc as a sampler, sequencer. If not, then get an mpd24. If you need the mpc sequencer/sampler, keep the mpc. Like I said you can always JUST use the pads to trigger Reason.

Now, what if you Reason crashes (hope not) then how are you going to get your beat thoughts out with an mpd? Use a mpc to map out your thoughts ya know.

Figure out the role you want your mpc to play and if it's needed then keep it and no money outta your pocket.

It sounds like ur a lil confused as to which direction u want to take ur studio into...

Keep ur mpc and try to incorporate it into ur reason set-up and if that doesnt work for you then yo should decide if u want to sell up & go the software route.

Get your card reader at least that way u can transfer samples to and fro, from mpc to pc & it will help to futher integrate your existing set-up.

Good luck ;)

I was thinking this too. Stop listening to so many people and figure out your own direction and what's good for you. Don't even listen to me, listen to your "inner producer". 8)

you right man, but like i said I was learning on this forum everyday, then my boy gave me reason. So that was kind of a blessing but it changed my whole route.. you know.
becuase I want to use my mpc to do all my sequences like lamp said. but these software dudes threw me off. okay right now i'm trying to configure both of these together so i can trigger reason from my pads. but its not working maybe i'm doing something wrong wrong. My main thing is loading sounds would i need the card to load or i can just load them threw reason. becuase that why ithough i need it, so i can get them in my mpc, but now i have the software i'm wondering so i need a card reader

and hell no i'm not giving up gods gift.... A HANDY MPC

can I ask have you ever used anything midi before. I'm not being funny, I just want to know how to put it so that you can understand it. Midi in and out, and the controller setting in Reason can be a bit tricky if you have never really understood midi setups to start with. You dig...

I don't think chop was trying to be a smart ass there bud.

It seems like you're trying to use the mpc as midi controller in Reason right?

Well then you're not going to load any sounds into your mpc, you're only going to be triggering sounds inside of Reason. All your sequencing is going to be in Reason.

If that's what you want to do, then a mpc is just a really overpriced midi controller. A mpd would make alot more sense if you don't want to sequence and sample in your mpc.

...seems like you're the one on a different page.

That's exactly what I was saying in the first place, glad you brought it differently and maybe easier to understand. I don't use Reason. I do all my sequencing in my Triton or mpc and that's it. I have no Reason info to pm you big dog, sorry.

Maybe someone else will come along and help you with that, I can't.

Thanks, but I'm not a pro at all, nowhere near it, I just do what I do.
