Personally I use the LM-2. You can burn your samples. Real Krunchy.

If I recall, the VS1824 was built with a universal transformer. You can plug it in anywhere.

I always assumed it was just the Forat mods and paintjob. And therefore, also assumed, it would not be any different than a Linn 9000 with the mods.

It seems to me it's a whole new machine with the bugs of the Linn 9000. Improved interface and whatnot.

I think that they buy second hand Linn 9000's, add all there modifications and software upgrades, and repaint the cases like they do with MPC's and other gear.

Everything that is on the Forat 9000 is available as modifications and updates to any existing Linn 9000.

I could be wrong though, I just really doubt that they remanufacture the whole machine.

I was one of A.J.'s early customers... (Yves J. was the man!)
Back when the MPC 2000 1st came out, I was curious about it versus my older 3000 model.
He linked me up with a killer deal.
Yes it was "grey market" but the deal was stellar, and I had the 2000 before most stores did & they were selling for about 300-400 more than I paid.
I was apprehensive bout wiring money to some stranger in Japan but it turned out to be a %100 legit deal.

So with that said, business is business.
And he's probably been in it longer than most of you have been out of high school.

I'd be more annoyed with the millions of DRE/ALCHEMIST/NEPTUNE SAMPLE DRUM KIT CD's you see anytime you do a search for MPC.

i really hope alot of this gear is ending up being used on some amazing records and not sitting in some rich japanese dude's studio who is really into my bloody valentine or something.

I just bought a sp1200 from him last week - it arrived in a very mint condition and the packaging was amazing.

I was on analog japans site checkn the mpc's they have available. They are selln this 60I for 1k+! I dont understand how these prices they have can be competitive.......Thats just nuts for a machine from the 80's that can be had for way less then that alot of other places. It does look minty though but the pic is like 50px x 50px

We live in a great world. You dont have to buy what they offer if it doesn't fit your criteria.

Go buy one of those cheap ones at alot of other places instead & quit your whining.
