Hard drive full!!

My internal hard drive is full and i'm looking for a quick and easy way to free it up. I have an external drive too and G5 with Logic etc.. Anyone know of a way to send internal hard disk data in bulks to another storage source? AkSys maybe?? I havn't got into that yet..

wow @ you filling up the hd, you have the 80 gig?

seems kinda crazy if you filled it up but havent used ak sys yet, install it, you will love it once you get adjusted makes some things especially easy, and file transfer between the computer and the mpc is one of them

Thanx for that. I've got to get into the AkSys.. Hard drive is only 40 Gig though. Got 6 left!! Need to do it soon. Will keep you posted on how i get on. Is there a way to remove internal and replace with new one? I bet they're esoteric hard drives and tricky to get hold of...

Is it possible to run AkSys and other programs at the same time? Logic etc..

and ya there are certain harddrives that work with the MPC, Id def research it if I were looking for a replacement

yea ak.sys will do the trick for transferring files off the internal drive. Keep in mind that it is pretty slow....about 500 k/s through the USB 1 connection.

I personally put in a 120GB Western Digital Drive. If you get a new drive, go with 120 gig or less. I heard people having problems over 120gig. I don't think the MPC is as picky about hard drive type as it is with RAM. That machine is so damn picky!!!

My guess is that larger disks will work again when partitioned to 2 or more partitions of 120G or less?

my question is how did you fill up the hard drive you must have alot of duplicate files...why dont u load each compisition and purge all the unused sample and program, and i bet u will get back at least half the space of the drive...this was a mistake i was making and filling up my drive once i finished that procedure my drives free capacity almost quadrupled.. try it

Thing is, I've been using MPC's for over 10 years as my main beat machine and i still dont trust it with parameter recall. EG: i just posted a topic about Q-Link mayhem and i know the MPC well enough to know that as soon as i start purging files it's not gonna recall multi,programs and chops accuratly. The type of programing i do is very complex and i'de rather be safe than sorry.. I'm sure we all know this too well, being MPC users n all.

Give thanks though for help. I already have an external 40 gig drive as backup which holds about half of what i've got in the internal. It would be a bloody slow proccess loading all data up and saving it to external drive. I think the AkSys is the way forward. I have the new version in my Mac already but havn't gotten into it yet. May need some advice when i do..
