as of now the jj OS has completely changed my mpc1000. all of these features are great answers to requests but as i played on my mpc i realized a lot of these features added dont really add much to the 'zone' work flow.. it changes the way you view but being in the mpc 'zone' is still the same. if we could do everything without having to stop the mpc, we could make beats on the f'ing spot in the zone the entire time. this would truly be pad-bliss. i dont think any new feature could compete with an even deeper level of 'the zone'. don't get me wrong i use and love all of these new features. but i'm thinking though, things are moving fast and everyone is getting tense... JJ needs to focus on the current state of the OS for a while so we can actually use the OS and report bugs to him. why not give him a project?? ask him to convert as many of the actions that require you to press stop as possible.

wouldn't shift+stop be flawless?

while hes working on converting, the rest of the OS will remain untouched.. allowing us to effectively hunt bugs. he fixed the file error bug... that was amazing. i can save with confidence now. if he could make an uninterrupted workflow i'd probably lose my job.

i never leave the sequence running while i'm making beats unless i'm jamming with other producers or instrumentalists. i always stop and adjust or rerecord a note, over and over. so fast that i often end up accidentily changing the contrast because i hit stop/data wheel back in grid edit.

but i really would be able to adjust and rerecord notes while the track is playing without screwing with the sequence playback.

**** great idea, that would effectively make it the closest thing to ableton Live in a hardware box.... very very sick indeed, I hope JJ hears this prayer.

yeah thats a great idea id love to shift notes while recording/playing a sequence.

not to hi jack the tread or anything but a feature I would love to see....over anything at this point is recall of time correct settings and shift timing for every track.

that way u wont get confused or forget the settings and u wont have to change them back everytime u do a new track.

absolutely yes. everything the 1k is capable of should be able to be done in realtime, it would really push the whole mpc methodology to its logical conclusion. as i understand it the yamaha rs7000 had a lot of realtime functions and clever edit tricks that would be highly desirable to mpc users, plus there always seems to be something that vintage samplers had up their sleeve which made them very funky to work with - the ensoniq approach to workflow or the akai s612 looping modes, for example.

I'd really like to be able to load kits while playing

earwolf what looping modes are on the s612 besides forward loop?

You guys got it so good, you don't even know it.

Even before JJ, the 1000 is better than all of the other MPCs (except for the 4000 which I never owned) with not needing to stop to adjust things.

TTBOMN,
The only thing you need to stop for is to change velocity to x.

I worked this machine hard last night for eight hours, it performed flawlessly, very dope. I am happy.

it has this crazy thing where you can set the start point after the end point in realtime letting you go straight bananas with the ill behaviour

****! Having seamless play while making tracks would be incredible, it would really turn the MPC 1000 into the best sampler for Live PA out of all of them. Being able to trim, load/save, and do all the other functions without having to stop would really turn this MPC into another league of machines.

Of course, I respect JJ, so ANY mods this guy brings to the MPC community keeps me satisfied. The amount of work he has put in already...
