You'd buy 2 sets of Lithium Ion batteries like lots of people do for their laptops or even their cell phones. To keep cost down it'd be an "optional" accessory like the EXM 128 is "optional"... of course you are going to buy one but to keep inital cost of buying the machine down it'd be available as an accessory and it shouldnt cost that much anyway like I said cell phone batteries are cheap to own a 2nd set.

you probably use 9volt batteries in your bass guitar right? 9volt batteries seem to be more robust then the other cylindrical style batteries, AA's, AAA's, C's and D's. I only say that because I've never had a problem with them. I've had the same 9volt battery inside my metronome for about 3 years, I dont use it much but it hasnt burst on me and it still works.

I think one 9volt battery could be able to power a mpc 500, six 1.5 volt AA's add up to 9 volts.

I'm sure they manufacture a hell of a lot more of each model cell phone than they do an MPC500, and an MPC500 would probably need more powerfull batteries than a phone, so an MPC500 specific battery would cost a hell of a lot more than a cell phone battery.

Who cares, they didn't do it that way, just use normal batteries and take them out after use, it's not very hard.

Lithium Ion Cells are generally used where they are the only source of power, or the source most likely to be used for vast amounts of the time i.e. mobile phones, cameras, camcorders, etc. Where battery power is an option but not the main power supply, regular cells seem to be employed.

Then how do you explain Laptops? I'd argue that people probably use their laptops while pluged into the wall the majority of the time and then use battery power as an option when they want to go to starbucks or something to write a paper and they probably bring two batteries.

The cool thing about most devices that use lithium Ion batteries also is that while you are using it while its pluged in... you are also recharging the batteries at the same time.

YES IT IS VERY HARD, I paid a pretty Fu*king penny for this thing and I'd rather not have it destoryed by inferior battery technology when there are better options available.

As for your other remark about scale... the same Lithium battery that they use in Ipod's and PDA's are widely available and CHEAP, I doubt the MPC 500 draws much more power then a PDA or a Video Ipod, im sure 2 of them would power a mpc 500.

i work in a store were we sell a lot of battery operated stuff
in six years of time i've only seen two or three battery leaks and those were from really cheapo cheapo crap from china

back in the eighties batteries werent the same mayne, don't worry bout it, as long as you buy energizer/kodak/duracell batteries its all good

if you buy them cheap ass panasonic ones (the blue ones) or the ones you buy 2 bucks for 10, you might have trouble...

At the risk of sounding like a crazy person that has a grudge against batteries or something... Just today the exact situation that I am talking about happened to my mom.

I was over my moms house today after work and we were talking about whatever..., then she asked me to look at her little portable radio that she likes to take out back with her when she goes to work in her garden during the summer. She said that she put new batteries in it and it still does not work. She told me that there was some corrosion around one of the little contact spring things inside where the batteries go. I told her that one of the batteries must have burst. I asked her where the old batteries were that were in it before she put the new ones in and she told me that they were in the trash.

I went and took them out of the trash and looked at each one and it was exactly as I thought... one of the had dried up / caked up white battery acid around the seam of the contacts. I went and got a little piece of steel wool and scrubed it off of the battery contacts and put the new batteries back and and it worked fine.

I asked her how long the batteries had been inside the radio and when was the last time she used the radio. She said that she hadn't been in the garden since around late september and thats the only time she uses the radio.

So thats about 4 months being inside a device and not being used. They were energizer industrial battieries not cheapo's, 1.5 volt alkaline batteries. Not an uncommon thing , I guess only people I know are the only ones that dont take their batteries out every night and back in everyday.

Actually I do take the batteries out of my digital camera after Im done using it, because I know I dont use my digital camera much so I know it'll be sitting around waiting to ruin itself if i didnt take the battieries out. But with the 500, I use it often so i dont want to have to take the batteries out everynight its eaiser just to leave them in there, I dont think I havent used my 500 for more then 1 day since I got it 3 weeks ago
