Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By[d] Thu Mar 18, 2004 8:45 pm
I am trying to find the EB16 somewhere; I went to a popular music department store here in queen city and a cat told me NOT to purchase the processor saying how wack it was.

From users that exercise the EB16 within there tracks, I must ask are you pleased with it's performance?

What kind of effects or how many does it out put?

Like Wah Wah...distortion, etc...

All feedback is appreciated.

thanks.

Don't listen to him, use your own judgement.

Very satisified, it has pros and cons, you just gotta work with it enough to know where to draw the line. ALL equipment has pros and cons though.

I don't think the eb16 is wack.....it is just not the greatest........it is very very useful...........listen to Lamp!

Yup, the EB16 is not all that effects-wise, but it's all that when it comes to productivity, ease of use and tryin out ideas fast.

When doin a beat, I almost always use a little reverb here, a little delay there, etc. Instant dope, and tells me how it's gonna sound when mixing in Protools.

Plus, the eq in the effects section makes up for the lack of a high-pass filter, very useful to get rid of that low rumble in hihats, for example.

the eb-16 is wack but has useful points which is all im saying which everyone that post saying the same thing , maybe the term wack is over doing it but really akai really didnt put there all in the effects on the mpcs...but i admit i used certain effect types when i used the 2k for parts that needed a little tweaking.. basically we all realize the card is not the best... but if u need try www.roguemusic.com thier used but they usually have them

Yeah, sometimes I like that too, but usually when doin a beat, I want all the possible bandwith for the bassdrum and bass. Plus, I want the beat to sound as finished as possible before recording it track by track to Protools.

And one of the most valuable things I've learned about mixing: Less is more :)

good points all around but heres something to remember...the fx in the eb16 arent mastering fx at all, you're gonna hafta pay big dinero for that, I look at 'em as being production fx...the stuff you use to flesh out your sounds a bit......and in that case, the eb does fine since you wont need any kind of fancy orchestra hall simulation for a kick drum or hi hat....
