how do i unmute things instantly...

in the track mute page if i have 2 four bar loops on seperate tracks both starting on the first beat of the first bar; how do i switch between them in a "sudden" way, as in NOT have to wait for 1.1.1.1 to roll around again before the loop is re-triggered...
for example if I was muting and unmuting tracks 1 and 2 the two loops would come on and off immediately. I hope this question is sufficiently explained...

you can only switch on a slice point, and put your consecutive slices on separate pads. you could put slices from your different loops on different layers and switch between them using the q slider, but this is only possible using jj's os.

there may be another way, this is what i do. also there may be a different way of doing this in the akai os.

answer - do not trigger an entire loop from 1 pad. that way you will have to wait for the seq to return to the beginning. chop the sample note per note onto evey pad and then play the pattern back out into the sequence. this way instead of just 1 midi note you have X, and each time one comes around you will hear a sound play.

others may contest this, but i never have a sample that is more than 1 note long.

you know what i mean? when you record from the source, you could have a guy who plays 4 notes on his guitar, or chords, w/e. that's 4 attacks, 4 transients. i always make sure those go to separate files, separate pads or pad layers. this is very important so you can control each note individually.

you will be frustrated at first by trying to recreate the original groove/pattern, but it's very important to learn how to do it. it'll increase your power inside the mpc by rediculous measures.

2nd - using the jj os, you have what are called AUDIO TRACKS, which play without midi triggered notes. it's more like acid, where if you start playback in the middle of the sample, it'll play. this is more for straightup loops or w/e.
