Hmmm... 16 Levels

When using 16 levels It changes the pitch from each pad to the next for a specific sound... It not only changes the sound but also the speed of the sample.... is there a way to be playing 16 levels/ different pitches without changing the timing... hard to put into words but I think that made sense.

in short: no, there is no way to change pitch without changing speed in 16 levels mode.
You can try and pitch up down your sample using the pitch shift function in TRIM/EDIT mode and lay out the new samples accross 16 pads into a new programme, but the results will only be acceptable for small pitch increments nad the whole process will take some time.

Alternatively you can try and chop your sample, make a patch phrase and lay out the patched phrase in 16 levels, maybe it works better.

get multisamples from whatever source you can find.

Sort of like chop small eh? Makes sense... I'll try both methods, sound like good ideas.. I had just made multiple samples. It mainly does it on more lengthy sounds. Thanks!

this may seem like a dumb question, but this is my first MPC. I am trying to follow the video, but how come in the video when he goes to MODE>TRIM he says to go to the 'Chop' option for Autochop, and you can clearly see a 'CHOP' on his screen.

Why is it that I have 'SLICE' rather than 'CHOP'? I've got OS 2.10

edit: well i think i got it working anyways, but is the Chop/Slice thing just a difference between the 1000 and 2500 or what?

Yeah I noticed that too. When I changed to 3.06 JJ OS It started showing up as chop instead of slice. The version that came with my mpc didnt even have chop OR slice, I freaked out! Must have been pretty old.
