Need MPC 1000 help

Im all new to the music scene but always been instreted in how beat are made. I wanna start out with buying the MPC 1000. I hear its a great machine. I wanna know what other equipment I need to successfully produce beats, like do I need a computer, or keyboard, or turntable also. Where would I get my samples from. Is there anyone out there to help me?

a computer will help with the mpc 1000 but it might be a hindrance if you are clueless.
