Stock Samples. Grrr.

For the LIFE OF ME I can't figure it out. I am really curious how some of you have your 1k's setup... as far as the stock samples go. Someone on here explained to me how to delete them and they would come up as question marks or empty files or something, then replace them. I had no luck... They get in the way big time, extra time scrolling through all this junk I dont use. Does it bother anyone? What do you do?

turn the AUTOLOAD folder off so it dosent load them everytime you start up your machine.

when you have a ton of samples you dont need, go to the PROGRAM SCREEN and hit PURGE, (Make sure the samples you want deleted aren't assigned to any pads) that will givve you less samples to go through

I never use AUTOLOAD... I tried Purge and it seems to get rid of them as far as being loaded up - but they are still on the internal memory and show up on every load and save or view. Is that the closest we can get?

1. Saved personalized files to flash card
2. Took out flash card
3. Purged
4. Restarted
5. Stock files still there

Also, I have my mpc/flash going into my Mac and I took out the stock samples on there too (from when saving entire memory in the past) and restarted, before doing anything I viewed my card first and there was still some junk on there I deleted. I am using the JJ 3.06 OS by the way.. which is FAR better than the stock OS I was using before. Ive only been on this since October last year... Ive always used Mac and (cough... Windows growing up) and I tell ya... the file systems on the 1k are the ONLY thing I dislike... But eh, its getting better. If you guys have any other tips or tricks shoot them my way! Thanks...

Do this:

Turn on your MPC.
Enter programme mode
Highlight the programme name and press WINDOW
Delete ALL programmes
Then do a PURGE
Now go to MAIN mode
Highlight the Sequence field
Hit Window and delete ALL sequences
Now Hit SAVE
Select MPC INTERNAL (for destination)
Save ALL MEMORY

This will erase the internal memory and replace it with blank data currently in the RAM of your MPC.

Now whenever you will boot up (without your CF card inserted), the MPC will be loaded with nothing but a blank programme and en empty sequence. No samples in RAM, nothing.


Note that obviously you don't understand the difference between the active memory (the RAM) and the passive memory (the storage: CF, HD, Internal). That's what's getting you all mixed up.

You cant save "Entire Memory" to the internal memory, only "All Sequences" and then "All Programs".
And if you have no program, no sample to save it gives me a "No sample wave" warning. Either you have one 0kb sized sample you can save or ( ithink the easier way) just create a empty folder and assign it as autoload, thats what i do.

or try this delete everything out of that auto load folder and replace with your own stuff, this is what i do

Well I know what the difference is... I just couldnt find the right order to delete and save things. Just expect things to work like ive used on a computer for years and years, similar but not the same. I did exactly like you guys said.. when I am on the main/ program screen none of the stock samples come up which is nice. When I go to load and click on internal memory they are all still there though. I tried to do it again exactly as before once I get to the final step and save all memory to Internal there is no DO IT, it wont let me save...

Yessss Did you read mine? I just tried again... started fresh on a new day... as I mentioned before I get right up to save entire memory, by default its on save to memory card (not installed currently) and that has a DO IT, I click it over to internal memory and there is no DO IT option...
