Turning on, then off

This might not make any kind of a difference, but sometimes I wonder what is the best order to turn things attached to you mpc on or off.

I have keyboards,speakers,scsi sometimes fxs and soon a mixer routed.
Since their all interconnected, is there some good electric order to turning things on or off?

if you got monitors turn them off first ,save all your sequences programs songs etc. then you can turn off your mpc and other equipment. i have a power supply which has eight ac inputs so after i turn off my monitors and save my sequences, I just hit the switch on the power supply conditioner .
Its sort of like a extension cord but it has a surge protector and lights that can be pulled out and pushed in , in case it's dark a lot of d.j's have them and it's rack mountable. If you don't have one you might want to invest in one . 100 dollars can get you a decent rack mounted one and the good thing is one switch can turn on and off the equipment that is plugged into it.

The bad thing is that if you have gear that is HARD on and not logic on then ALL that power hits your gear when you tap that switch. I would do exactly as you say but I would turn off each piece instead of just hit the switch.. That's just me though.

I feel what your saying the power surge basically has all my
rack mounted equipment , sound module, mic pre, compressor etc.
My Motif Es and MPC 2000XL are turned off independently .
The sequence I use to turn off my equipment goes like this , monitors,keyboard,mpc and rack mounted gear .
The sequence when turning on is like this, Rack mounted gear,
keyboard, mpc and then monitors. Ive been doing it like this for
years and all my equipment is still functioning like it was new ,never a blown fuse monitor or power surge or loss .If I'm going to record tracks and vocals the first thing that gets turned on is my computer .

Shut the speakers down first then mixer and then everything else, but dont just do it from a power strip. You will get a hard off like lamp was sayin. Just make sure the speakers go cause when you shut off the mixer or MPC or whatever there will be a loud pop that might damage speakers.

When turning on your equipment, turn on your monitors last. Unless you know which levels you left your mixer on when you powered down you can potentially damage your speakers. It might take time, but sooner or later they are going to give out on you from the constant power spike.

i always leave all my shit on. monitors, mixer, computer, the whole 9. cant be good right? hah

I wouldnt leave the MPC or the mixer on. The mpc screen will die fast that way if you aint usin it dont leave it on. Except the computer, That shouldnt be a problem. I leave mine on for months. Use a screen saver though.

Plz do that soon!! For all that read that don't have, I love the fact knowing that I can't loose anyting and I have more than 5 minutes to save all my schit! You can't fail, I spent 30$ on a priceless investment! peace, and 1, I'm out, just wanted to see what my peeps where talking bout.

Being that I don't have the fancy setup most of you cats have, I am underpriveleged I turn off my zip drive after I save, then my MPC then my turntable then my mixer. Then last if I used it at all my computer goes off. I usually make my beats in the headphones so I dont' have the problem with monitors that you guys will be having, but when I get my monitors up they will be the first to go off since not only does it protect them but it doesn't allow for that annoying THUMP sound they make when you shut something off. It can be damaging to your speakers and if you're standing near them I believe it can be damaging to your ears if your volume is way up.
