routing several pads to same midi

Hi folks,


I'm thinking of getting one of those mpc1000 as a portable desktop sampler to be triggered by my zendrum. For some of my samples, I need more than 4x velocity switching. Is it possible to assign several pads/sounds to the same midi note and achieve 16x velocity switching like that?

i believe it can be done. you can go the "NOTE" window and set 2 pads to the same midi note. i just did that to see but i didnt try triggering them (no samples were loaded). and when i did it an asterisk appeared next to the note #. i dont know what the * means.

anyone else know the rest?

The * means the note is assigned more than one time.

I just tested this for you. Sorry, didn't work. Only the first pad played. If I assigned that first pad to another note number, the second one played ok.

Interestingly, when playing on the external keyboard, one note would get "Pad Bank E" selected, and the names and everything was full of garbled letters. Nice bug.

Drumndaze, you can actually have 4 samples on one midi note, so that's already taken care of.

well i guess you could always use more than one pad...

for example:

pad A1:

layer 1: velocity 1-11
layer 2: velocity 12-21
layer 3: velocity 22-31
layer 4: velocity 32-41

pad A2:

layer 1: velocity 42-51
ETC., all the way up to 127

What do you mean? That is exactly what I tested, and it didn't work. rilkurt wanted it on the same pad.
