I have the 1000 interested in what 4000 can do!

I'm wondering if some of you guys can give me an audio example of what the 4000 can do. Do any of you guys have any tracks were you made a lot of use of the 4000's advanced features? If so can you post them so I can get an idea?!

Right now I'm just learning how to make beats. If I get better and think it's a worthy investment I'm probably going to go with a 4000 in the future.

The 4k can do alot more then the 1k homie! Just learn the 1k first before makin that BIG jump ya dig! U tryin to pull off a Lebron James stunt from high school to da pro's if the 1k was yur first MPC ya dig!

Labworks...did you read my post?! Just checking! I'm not thinking of getting the 4000 tomorrow or next week. I'm thinking of getting it in the future. Possibly next year, but I would still like some audio samples of what it can do.

Im sayin u got a 1k if u make HOT tracks then yur production can pay for itself and then u can upgrade ya dig! Learn what u have first and make music wit that. The lil mighty 1k is powerful if u kno what yur doin. The 4k will not make yur tracks better homie!

It's all about who's doing the programming! See you gotta understand I'm lusting for the 4000 pretty bad! I gotta Jones in my Bones that I just can't shake. If your wack no matter what equipment you use it'll be wack. If your dope you could make bangin' shit on a casio keyboard. Knowing that doesn't satisfy my curiosity though!

I'm mostly interested in 4000 because it seems to me that you can do most of your work on it. Right now I have to do a lot of back and forth with the PC. It's not very convenient, and I hate doing stuff on the PC.

So right now I really want something where I can damn near do almost everything I need to do right on it. I'm gathering as much info. as i can, but I need REAL examples to see if it's worth it. If the other "advanced " features are not really that big of a deal I just might stick to what I have and just add other gear, and grin and bare having to use my PC. The 4000 is a lot of money especially in Canadian funds.

I'm the type of cat that likes to do my research and gathering way before I need to.

I just thought some of you guys wouldn't mind sharing and just being helpful! I thought you guys would jump at the chance to show off the 4000! I guess I was wrong!

Stop bickerin homie! Most of the 4k owners are on there 4k's makin music since the new 1.51 OS ya dig u have to understand that! They will hit u up shortly be patient!

I dont mean to sound redundant, but if you wanna hear something on the listen to some Just Blaze or David Banner, and other people out there

Its kinda impossible to "HEAR" the 4ks features considering its a sampler, and unless someone walked you thru it, you wouldnt have much of an idea, you'll just know it had something to do with the machine, your only goin to get what you put into it as well as having a understanding of synthesis

I say if you really want to know the difference just look at the feature list and browse to the reference manuals, its pretty much as simple as that as far as the difference

The FX are ok as well, thats about it

I have some similar interests in the 4000 as Lou-one. After using a 3200XL for years++, I just bought a 1000...after a few months, I really do like the production flow, and the pads/tracks/etc are obviously the way to go for total control. However, I've been noticing weird things on the 1000 that make it seem kind of like a toy compared to even my 3200.
Like realtime adjustment...on the 1000 if your tuning, tweaking filters or any other DSP related jz than the changes are only upated after you lift your finger and and hit the pad again, and forget sweeping filters on the fly. And polyphony issues have some up before, where you hit one other pad and another cuts out.
On the 3200 that FX card lets you flex on the fly.
The 1000 filters section is WEEAK! I said it WEEEEEAK!
Also the 3200 lets you transpose on the fly while a pattern is plying down (which is GREAT).
Can't do this on a 1000--it's buried 2 layers deep in the menu, and you gotta stop what yer doing to make changes.
Really slows down the experimentation. My 3200 feels like a real audio engine, and sometimes it seems like the 1000 is powed by a couple of rubber-bands. With a dixie cup data knob.
Can anyone one this board address anything I've mentioned in terms of the 4000? Cos I need some powah.
I'm not using this stuff to do "hip-hop". I know many on the 1000 forum are very happy with how it lets them feeel like a "producer", but.......
So is the 4000 more flexible in these ways? I guess I want to push the new gear the way I pushed the 3200 back 6-8 years ago, and after a few months, the 1000 doesn't seem to respond well to being pushed.
If anyone feels like chiming in on this stuff go for it...
Maybe it could be said I need to use the 1000 for some more time, but these initial weaknesses have dampened my enthusiam a bit.

u say u work on a 3200xl, ok if u take that 3200 and combine it with the 1000, its sorta like that, but with z4/8 power...basically its a z4/8 sampler with the mpc mind and those lovely pads.... go to sam ash or GC and play around on... its a nice addition to any set-up

yeh, that thought has been coming back to me: that I coulduse the 1000 to trig the 3200, maybe that will give me some more options.

it's almost the same.

We don't have a GC or Sam Ash where I'm at. The stores in my city don't really carry MPC or akai products. Literally 2 places have in the 1000 because...well lets face it...it's the playstation 2 of beatmaking right now...every kid's gotta have one! With the 4000 being like the XBox...more advanced...not selling as much...and mostly because people with lesser models are hating on it...and it's pretty damn expensive!

But, I have yet to see one in person, the stores don't get in product like that because there aren't any serious beatmakers here, and it will most likely sit on the shelf till it decays.

If I want to see it in person I'm mostly likely going to have to special order it and buy it! That's why I'm trying to get as much real time info on it as possible!

if you got the doe to spend get it, but if your looking to buy just 1 complete all in one look at the mv 8000, but if you have pc's and digital mixers or adat or any kind of recording equiptment add the 4000 to and you will be satisfied
